Claws Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Double Dutch

Watch out, Zlata and Gregory!

It took some time, but Desna went on the road and rediscovered her shitkicker self on Claws Season 2 Episode 6.

Now she's in touch with her inner gangster and is in charge of the resistance.

Road Trip - Claws Season 2 Episode 6

That promises to be a bumpy ride.

It was only fitting that Desna was reeling at the beginning. Her boss had shot her best friend's husband. Then she found out Zlata and Gregory were playing her.

Jenn's verbal attack on Desna after Bryce slipped into a coma sent her over the edge and she and Dean onto the road.

They were off to see their favorite foster mom, whom they hadn't seen for decades. This impulsive decision came from a promise Miz Wallace had made to her decades before.

Poor Dean must have been confused about why Desna, his rock, was walking into the ocean and was racked by sobbing. But he knew Desna always has her reasons for what she does, even when she appeared to be hysterical.

Why she thought breaking into Miz Wallace's former house would yield clues, I don't know. But it did produce memories for her and Dean.

It didn't take much of a search for them to find Miz Wallace. But that time in their old stomping ground helped Desna to remember who she is. She's not just a mama bear who takes care of her own. She's also a fighter.

It was funny that Miz Wallace couldn't even remember the "bullshit" that she had fed to Desna all those years ago. But she did reinforce the concept that Desna had what it took to fight her own battles.

After Desna's fantasy double dutch with her younger selves, Desna returned to Palmetto a revived woman. She was able to admit, to anyone who would listen, that she had been used and fooled, but she was ready to take control of her life again.

She decided to make the right play -- ingratiating herself further with Zlata and Gregory while teaming up with the Hussers. Uncle Daddy isn't what he was, but with the right motivation (staying alive), he could become a valuable lieutenant to Desna, which would be a lovely switch of roles. Just ask Chip.

It's good to see Desna and Roller back on the same side. He made up his mind about which team he was on as soon as Zlata threatened Bogdan. Talk about cold blooded.

It may take a while before Desna forgives him for withholding the truth about Gregory, but he could well become another spy inside Zlata's organization.

I've been enjoying philosopher Roller and his weird nuclear family, but I'm afraid that will soon be over. Now if only I could understand everything he mumbles. Ya feel me?

Then there was Jenn and her magic ... therapy. Who would have thought that the possibility of sex and some England Dan and John Ford Coley could bring Bryce out of his coma? And make him forget their recent history?

What I don't like is that it seemed that Hank, the nicest character (if you excuse the adultery), was acting somewhat stalkerish. Jenn and Bryce have enough issues without adding that to the mix.

The maturation of Virginia (if that's not an oxymoron) continues. She did fairly well running the salon, under the circumstances. It was funny watching her be the responsible one, trying to get Toby and Scarlet to help her out with the birthday party.

Then afterward there was her sweet (for her) call to Desna's voicemail, tacitly acknowledging all that Desna has done for her. Maybe she is becoming a more well-rounded individual who won't ultimately hurt Dean. At least, I hope so.

On the Warpath - Claws Season 2 Episode 6

Next, let's talk about Dr. Ken, the worst informant ever. Did he really think crashing into the room of comatose Bryce asking about any recent criminal activity would get him anywhere? I mean, Uncle Daddy and Roller aren't great talkers under the best of circumstances, and this certainly wasn't that.

How about Polly trying to pimp out her dancers to the housewives in the book club at the park? She wasn't at all subtle, even though they were Hammer & Pickle's target audience.

Polly was even more obvious when she was bragging to the wired Ken about her new position as a madam for Zlata. Even Arlene and her partner looked dumbfounded about what Polly was saying. So what happens first: Polly finds out about Ken or she gets turned? I'd guess the former since Ken can't keep his mouth shut.

In the end, Desna literally had fire in her eyes, as she burned her wedding dress. How will she take her revenge over the rest of the season?

Jenn: This is you ... you did this. You remember how you said we could trust Zlata.
