Legacies is set in Mystic Falls aka the same place The Vampire Diaries was set.

That's why it's only natural to wonder which stars from the original series will show up in the magic school-set spinoff.

During the Legacies panel at San Diego Comic-Con, we learned that a favorite from the original series would be stopping by in the series premiere of Legacies.

The latest actor to sign on for the series is Zach Roerig, who played Matt Donovan for all eight seasons of TVD. Yes, we're still surprised Matty Blue Eyes survived because he had the worst luck of all the characters.

He will appear on the series premiere, which is slated to air Thursday, October 25th on The CW.

The good news about this is that we will get to see what he's been up to ever since his story seemingly concluded on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 16.

By the time Legacies kicks off, around a decade will have past, so we think it's fair to say a lot will have changed for Matt.

Will he still be unlucky in love character, or will he have a whole new outlook on life? The possibilities are really endless here, and that's what makes this spinoff so worthwhile.

As for other cameos, creator Julie Plec confirmed that she would like for Candice King and Kat Graham to appear as Caroline and Bonnie, respectively.

If you watch The Originals online, you will know that the former has appeared several times on The Originals Season 5 and that she was one of the main driving forces behind the magic school opening in the first place.

As far as we know, she's still very much associated with the school, so something has to change for her to be away from Alaric, Lizzie, and Josie when the narrative picks up two years after the current timeline.
