Preacher Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Hilter

Loose lips sink ships on Preacher Season 3 Episode 7 because everyone thinks TC is too dumb to pay attention.

Oh, contraire mon frère. It's the ones who appear dumb that you have to worry about. What were they thinking talking about Genesis in front of him anyway?

Don't get me wrong, he is dumb, but he's got ears! Where are the street smarts we know Jesse and Tulip have?

Grandma Talks to Jesse - Preacher Season 3 Episode 7

Geez.

So now Grandma's caught wind of the power, and it's not going to take her long to figure out the mission Jesse is on with Starr.

That's bad news because Jesse has no clue Grandma knows anything, so while he's gone, she has all that time to prepare for his return.

You're the toughest, most survivingist woman I've ever met.

Jesse

Speaking of Grandma, is it possible she's just a scared and lonely old woman?

She certainly seems to love Jesse, in her own sick way. Grandma was in tears when Jesse was leaving, and it didn't seem like she was putting on a show.

What if Grandma just doesn't know how to behave any differently? Not that I'm making excuses for her behavior, but look at her. She's old as dirt, she pees into a bag, and she has to eat souls to exist. Seems to me, she's afraid of aging and afraid to die.

An Uneasy Alliance - Preacher

So, since she's upset about the aging process and afraid to die, she does the only thing she knows how to do to stave off the inevitable.

That's not too far fetched. Most people do that to some degree or another with juice cleanses, working out, and anti-age serums. Right?

Okay, most people don't go as far as Grandma, but would they if they had the powers she has?

Maybe.

TC: What's a Genesis?
Featherstone & Tulip: A band!

At first, it seemed that Jesse was gentle with her, but he wasn't. He was hollow inside. Dominic Cooper nailed that scene with Grandma.

Jesse is leaving with a plan. They may be his family, but they killed his parents.

His real family are Tulip and Cassidy.

Speaking of Cassidy, he's having a time. Leave it to him to get mixed up with a vampire who's a vampire hater. His only chance is to be kidnapped by Hoover. Cassidy wants to belong somewhere so badly. It's a very human thing to want to be accepted and belong to something bigger than yourself.

Hoover Supervises Nuns - Preacher Season 3 Episode 7

Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Cassidy's going to find out what he's looking for was with him the whole time. He belongs with Jesse and Tulip.

They are his family.

Cassidy's not going to find what he has with them anywhere else, and I think he knows that. Maybe that's what he's afraid of.

But let's face it after Jesse and Tulip leave this Earth, Cassidy doesn't have to stay. He can walk out in the sun, and be done with it all. He needs to live in the here and now, and not worry about the what ifs and the uncertain future.

I want to catch a vampire.

Hoover

That's a life lesson everybody has to learn if they want to stay sane.

Let's touch on Hitler for a minute. I was so glad to see him step back into his evil Hitler ways. For a while there, they were painting him in a brighter light, showing that Hitler has a good side.

Interesting, but a leopard never changes his spots.

When he mesmerized the other sub shop employees with his charismatic German speech, I thought, "Now, there's the Hitler we hate."

It gets you to thinking about evil people, and what would happen if they were given the opportunity to return to Earth. Would they change? Would they take up a job in a sub shop, cover for their cheating bosses, and live their lives undetected?

Or would their evil surface?

More likely than not, their evil would shine through.

The sad thing about The Saint dragging those two to Hell is that Eugene doesn't belong there. Does Jesse even remember he sent Eugene there? He hasn't mentioned Eugene in a long time, and it would be a shame if he was left to be tortured for the rest of eternity in Hell.

I want souls.

Grandma

When Jesse gets his powers back, one of the first things he should do is command Eugene out of Hell. I have a sneaking suspicion that won't happen, though.

He's got so much on his mind with Angelville, Herr Starr, Tulip, and Cassidy, that Eugene is the last thing on his mind. It seems like forever ago he sent Eugene to Hell. So much has happened since then. Eugene's going to be stuck in Hell until the Saint comes for Jesse.

That's when it'll occur to Jesse that he left Eugene in Hell. Whoopsie!

Knowing Eugene, he'll probably forgive Jesse immediately, and that'll be the end of his storyline. I can't imagine any more story Eugene has to tell.

Back to dear old Grandma, it'll be interesting to see if a million souls from the bank in Japan will satisfy her, and compel her to let Jesse go for good.

I don't think it will.

Why? Because she doesn't want to let him go. She knows if she lets go of Jesse, she'll never see him again. He's her grandson, and somewhere in that black coal heart of hers is love for him.

What do you think Preacher fans? Is Grandma just a lonely old woman in need of some love? Will Jesse ever remember that he sent Eugene to Hell? Is Cassidy going to wise up to his new coffin buddy?

Tell me what you think in the comments.
