Suits Season 8 Episode 3 Review: Promises, Promises

at .

There are perks to messing with the landlord after all.

Harvey waged war on Suits Season 8 Episode 3, and David Fox was firmly in his crosshairs.

It was just one of the exciting storylines on "Promises, Promises" which proved that there is still a lot to like about this USA Network legal drama.

Pulled Into a Dispute - Suits

Harvey has always been an honorable man, who likes to save people that are being wronged by a big corporation. The exciting thing about him going head-to-head with the landlord was that it was the type of case Mike would usually work.

Even without Mike, the show is still giving us some cases about ordinary people, and those are some of the series' finest. What David was doing to his employees was god awful.

However, the case was more about educating audiences that things like this are happening in the world in this day and age.

Hannah had the title of Facility Manager. While you would think with "Manager" in the title she would be getting paid more, she was actually struggling to make ends meet and was being swindled out of overtime.

Annoyed - Suits Season 8 Episode 2

David was like a snake, trying to slither out of every situation in which he found himself.

Harvey has been hot-headed in the past, so he was poised to make a big blunder in the case.

The positive is that David only messed with the building and never tried to find a legal loophole to send Zane Specter Litt out of his building. I've grown attached to that building, and could not imagine our characters setting up shop elsewhere.

Sending Donna in to close the deal was the best thing Harvey could do. If you watch Suits online, you know that Donna has been one of the most resourceful characters since the series' inception.

Also, Donna was instrumental in brokering the deal to keep the firm in the building back on Suits Season 7. She knew what David was like and how she could manipulate him.

The only negative I can say about this storyline is that it means Harvey is going to have to help David with legal matters for the next year. I dare say Harvey's going to be angry about it, but he did give Donna the green light to do whatever she had to do.

Donna Wages War - Suits Season 8 Episode 3

I figured Donna was going to wind up on a date with David by the end of the hour, so I was ecstatic when she shut him down before he even got the chance to ask her out.

The increased focus on Katrina (Amanda Schull) during Suits Season 8 has been a pleasant surprise. She's long been one of the best characters, and she was given a lot to work with on "Promises, Promises."

It was ironic that the man she was trying to fire a few episodes before was the one who was pledging allegiance to her in her time of need. Migraines are awful, and I can't begin to imagine having one while having a meeting with a client.

Granted, Katrina could have sent Brian a text to let him know the situation before having him wade into water in which he could not swim.

While I'm glad we know he managed to win the case for the client, it was a little disheartening that his big win happened off-screen. It took a lot away from what was a robust storyline.

As for Katrina being a senior partner, I can get on board with that. She tries to do right by her clients and can make objective decisions without letting her heart get in the way.

Katrina's Pain - Suits Season 8 Episode 3

That's a solid trait to have, and one that will be crucial to Zane Specter Litt's success as it continues to navigate these unchartered waters.

Alex continuing to pursue Gavin was predictable, but he should have known to get the client was not going to be the end of his ordeal. Gavin is an opportunist who wanted to find out whether Alex was to be trusted.

The sad thing is that if Alex went to Samantha without the attitude, she might have helped him out with some information. There had to be a big reason why Robert was indifferent towards having Gavin back as a client.

Samantha Smiles - Suits Season 8 Episode 2

Having Samantha go up against Louis made for one of the most contrived scenes in the history of the series. I was firmly on Samantha's side when Louis told her to drop Delta airlines.

Samantha is not someone to be messed with. I've lost count of the number of times she's proven that through her first three episodes. Being upfront with Alex about her plan to become partner was her most genuine moment yet.

Alex is going to have his work cut out for him if he thinks he's going to get the upper hand in this war.

What are your thoughts on this episode? Were you glad Harvey never turned to Mike for help? What are your thoughts on Katrina?
