"Bughead," the combination of girl-next-door Betty Cooper and moody Jughead Jones, is one of the most shippable couples on Riverdale.
For the past two seasons, they've kept fans hooked with their roller coaster romance of passionate highs and sad lows. Whether you're #TeamBughead or #TeamVarchie (or even both!), you can't deny this couple's cuteness. Their romance has even won over the naysayers over time, this writer included.

1. Nancy Drew + Sherlock Holmes
You can't start a list about Bughead without talking about the passion that pulled them together. Both Betty and Jughead love to bring out their inner sleuths to solve dark mysteries. From investigating The Black Hood to solving the Jason Blossom murder, this mystery-solving pair has too many special moments to choose from!
2. "Juggy"
The cuteness of Bughead started right from Betty's nickname for her dear friend. Only the sweet girl-next-door that is Betty Cooper could get away with calling the moody Jughead Jones that name with all seriousness. Once she called him "Juggy" on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 3, the rest was history.
3. Climbing Through Windows
In a moment that served all of our '80s and '90s TV drama fantasies, Jughead found a way to climb up through Betty's window on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 6. He joined the ranks of Dawson from Dawson's Creek to melt our hearts. So cute!
4. The First Kiss
The first kiss always sets the tone for a shippable couple. If you joined Team Bughead after their liplock, no one would blame you. They shared a sweet and tender moment that won over fans on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 6 ... and eventually would win over the naysayers later on.

There were a few kisses that stood out during Bughead's romantic life that would be in the Top 5 of Riverdale's best romantic moments. One, in particular, is the rainy kiss between Betty and Jughead on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 1. After she told Jughead that she trusts and supports him, they take a moment to kiss in the rain. 6. The Archie Comics Vision
Jughead might have been having a nightmare, but his Archie Comics hallucination on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7 was the dream of milkshakes and 1950s charm. Whether you're a fan of the Riverdale's darkness or the original comics, we got to see Bughead thrive in both worlds.
7. He Cleans Up Nicely
Even Jughead, who perpetually wears his crown hat and leather jacket all the time, likes to change things up by wearing a nice suit every now and then. Sure, the reason for wearing the suit was sad (it was Jason Blossom's memorial), but we got a tender moment between Bughead. Betty looked so smitten seeming him in a suit on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 5, and he was all bashful about it.
8. Homecoming Dates
Speaking of suits, who didn't love seeing Jughead and Betty all dressed up for the Riverdale Homecoming on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 11? They made the perfect dates.
9. Holding Hands
Not every moment has to be a grand gesture; it can be something subtle and sweet, like them holding holds together. When Betty and Jughead walked home together during Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7, we couldn't help but notice them holding hands along the way. It's the little things that make us smile.
10. Reaching Out
When Jughead put his arm around Betty on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7, the move exposed their relationship to the world. The tender action caught Veronica, Archie, and everyone else off-guard, but we as the viewers were the most blown away. Jughead actually declared his feelings for Betty and did something out in the open.
11. The First Time
A list of obsess-worthy Bughead moments couldn't be complete without when they took their relationship to the next level. On Riverdale Season 2 Episode 12, we were left speechless when Bughead finally hooked up. Their romance hit major passion levels to compete against the other big couple on the block, "Varchie" (Veronica + Archie).
12. The Getaway Hookups
Their passion was also funny to watch, like during their weekend getaway to the Lodge cabin on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 14. The squeaky sounds, the return of Dark Betty, and the cheeky romance made their entire weekend a ship-worthy scene.
13. Jughead Supports Betty In The Musical
Simply him supporting his girlfriend is a big moment to obsess over. During all the prep for Carrie: The Musical on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 18, he cheered her on as she practiced and performed her part.
14. The Baby Shower
Jughead finds a way to break out of his comfort zone to support the person he loves. On Riverdale Season 1 Episode 8, he went to Polly's baby shower to support Betty by being by her side. Him being there made a big positive difference to their relationship when he focused on doing something for her. Plus, the kiss didn't hurt either!
15. Moving In Together
When the situation was getting tough at the Cooper household, Jughead offered Betty a safe place away from the Chic drama. Sure, they didn't officially move in together permanently on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 16 since she was only crashing at his place to avoid her psychotic brother. However, for a time, they were officially a couple living together.
16. Betty Throws Jughead A Birthday Party
Though, we also like the big stuff too! Betty going out of her way to throw her boyfriend a surprise birthday party on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 10 really came from the heart. However, next time, she should probably go without the creepy singing.
17. Repairing The Car
When Betty helped Jughead fix his car before the big Ghoulies race, the repair session mended some of the tension that burned between them. They may have been broken up, but Betty couldn't sit back and not help Jughead any way she could. The few awkward/tense moments between them on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 6made all the difference.
18. Betty Takes Care Of Jughead's Wounds
After his first tussle against the Ghoulies on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 3, Jughead got into trouble and ended up in pain. Betty was right by his side to tend to his wounds and help clean him up. The gang plot caused a lot of problems for Bughead, but seeing these two comfort each other at this moment made our hearts swell.
19. Bedside Visit
Life and death scenarios didn't end after just a few gang fights. Jughead soon found his way to the hospital after the town riots and nearly died in the process. But yet again, Betty was right there to check up on him to make sure he was alright on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 21. These two always find a way back to each other, right?
20. Exchanging Holiday Gifts
They know each other so well. Betty and Jughead even found the perfect gifts for each other during their first holiday as a couple on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 9. Usually, you try not to go big with a grand gift, but they ignored that rule to find gifts the other surely would treasure and love.
21. Motorcycle Rides
The simple actions were great too, like when Jughead gave Betty a ride on his motorcycle to the hospital on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 1. Did you not love Jughead channeling his "James Dean" moment? We couldn't deny the cheekiness of the bad boy connection.
22. This Cute Morning Moment
How about this tender moment from Riverdale Season 2 Episode 7? All they did was wake up and spend a few cherished moments of bliss before heading out into the day. The couple just enjoys their time together ... and we can see why.
23. Betty Goes To Southside
Nothing like separate schools would keep them apart. When Betty visited Southside High on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 13, she told Jughead that the distance wouldn't hurt their relationship. Our hearts broke when she saw how happy and comfortable Jughead was to be away from Riverdale High.
24. "You're A Sight For Sore Eyes."
Bughead has had their conflicts over time, and the distance being separated by schools didn't help. But, when they finally reunited at Pop Tate's Chock'lit Shoppe on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 5 after a long while not seeing each other, we got the perfect response from Jughead seeing Betty. The line was cheesy and dramatic, but it hit all the right emotional marks.
25. Coming Clean
Bughead has been open and honest with each other, for the most part. One of their biggest truthful moments was at Pop Tate's Chock'lit Shoppe when Betty told Jughead about her darkness on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 10. She came clean about the fear and insecurity she bottled up from this evil side about herself. Sharing that raw truth with Jughead brought them closer together.
26. Tearful Goodbyes
Heartbreaking moments, on the other hand, weren't few and far between! There wasn't a dry eye in sight when Jughead called Betty to say his goodbye on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 21. When he sacrificed himself to the Ghoulies and Penny Peabody, the phone call potentially would've been the last moment they had together if he had he not survived. Thankfully, he did make it out alive.
27. Jughead Urges Betty To Not Let Go
These two characters aren't the types to give up so easily. Betty and Jughead were in each other's corners giving motivational words and the support they needed. During Riverdale Season 1 Episode 9, Jughead told Betty to not let go because of the Cooper family drama that was hurting her. He didn't want to lose her, and neither would we.
28. Here To Save The Day
In fact, they both like to save the day. If you needed the perfect GIF-worthy moment of Jughead, look no further to when he and the Southside Serpents burst through the door on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 17. Nothing, especially no door, was going to stop him from saving Betty's life.
29. Mr. & Mrs. President
Betty and Jughead always find a way to team up, like during the student council election. On Riverdale Season 2 Episode 16 and Riverdale Season 2 Episode 17, Jughead looked no further than the woman he loved to be his running mate for the election. And, she wouldn't just be his Vice-President, she would be the co-President.
30. Serpent Queen
The partnerships also spread to the Southside Serpents as well. When Jughead took over the reins of the crew, he asked Betty to lead the group along with him on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 22. Just look at her happiness when he asked her to be his Serpent Queen!
31. The Reunion
Betty and Jughead have broken up and gotten back together a couple of times now. But, the most obessible moment is during Riverdale Season 2 Episode 6 after the Ghoulies race. After calling Betty Cooper an enigma, it's revealed that the two found a way to get over their differences and get back together. The peaceful times didn't last, but we have the enigma moment to tide us over.
32. I Love You, Betty Cooper
They love each other ... and that's what matters! We all knew they cared about each other before, but it was great hearing them officially say it on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 13. Hearing Jughead say those three little words caught us all off guard, especially Betty.
33. A Happily Ever After?
Who knows if Bughead will truly be endgame when Riverdale ends, but for right now, Betty and Jughead want a future together. The couple said as much on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 5. Seeing them sad and wishing about a future that might never be a possibility was heartbreaking to watch. Hopefully, Betty and Jughead find happiness one way or another. They deserve it.
