Netflix knows a gem when it has one!
The streaming service has handed out a second season renewal to its buzzy Spanish teen drama, Elite.
Taking place at an exclusive private school named Las Encinas, it focuses on the school being forever changed after taking in three 16-year-olds from working-class backgrounds following the destruction of the public school they were enrolled in.
With the ultimate battle between the wealthy children and the not so well of children ensuing, it results in one person being murdered and the series filling in the blanks to give viewers all the answers throughout the initial eight-episode run.
Elite Season 1 bowed on Netflix on October 5 and currently holds a 100 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It stars Maria Pedraza, Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Guzman Bernardeau, Miguel Herran, Jaime Lorente, Alvaro Rico, Arón Piper, The mine Hammani, Ester Expósito, Omar Omar Ayuso, and Danna Paola.
Netflix has not given any details about what Elite Season 2 will be about, but the good thing is that it will be another eight-episode order.
The series benefited from clever plotting with the first season, allowing for a breakneck pace.
The renewal was a no-brainer, especially when you consider the buzz the series has been garnering across the internet.
It was surprising how quick the renewal was announced, but it's great to know there will be more episodes.
Netflix has committed to making 30 percent of its European catalog in Europe, so that could be attributed to the early renewal.
