ABC's spinoff of The Middle is starting to take shape.
According to TV Line, Finesse Mitchell is the latest series regular to board the series which will be titled Sue Sue in the City.
The Saturday Night Live veteran will take on the role of Hudson, a bartender who works at the same hotel as Sue.
As previously reported, the series follows Sue Heck (Eden Sher) as she leaves her hometown behind in favor of a career as well as to embrace adulthood.
It was recently revealed that Sue's BFF, Brad (Brock Ciarlelli) would be following her to the city, and has also been added as a series regular.
Per Deadline, Kimberly Crossman will also be part of the cast. She will play Remi, the unlucky in love chef at the hotel.
It's still unclear at this stage whether Beau Wirick will be part of the cast. Sue wound up marrying her neighbor Sean (Wirick) in the series finale of the hit sitcom.
However, the marriage took place after a flashforward, so there's a good chance Sue will be living the single life when Sue Sue in the City gets under, assuming it moves past the pilot stage.
The Middle was a hit for ABC, with the final season averaging a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. It makes sense then that the network is pursuing a spinoff.
It's difficult enough to launch a series, so an offshoot with one of the show's most popular characters is a good business decision.
More casting details will emerge closer to the pilot entering production, but so far, so good!
