Fox is looking for Chastain Park Memorial Hospital to solve medical mysteries for the entire 2018-19 season.
The network has placed an order for a full season of The Resident which is currently airing its second.
13 episodes were initially ordered, but nine more episodes will join that order.
Not bad for a show that was critically panned when it first debuted, despite becoming one of Fox's most successful series, right?
The Resident Season 2 has been steady as a rock, with the first three episodes each pulling in a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49.
The Resident Season 1 averaged that same 1.0 rating, so the audience clearly likes what the show is bringing to the table.
In today's climate, steady is the new up, and the series is proving resilient despite stiffer competition.
This is a big vote of confidence for the series which fits like a glove with fellow medical drama, 9-1-1.
Both shows have elevated Fox's Monday night line-up to must-see status.
The Resident stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Bruce Greenwood.
“Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan and the amazing team behind The Resident have brilliantly offered viewers the ability to see the medical industry through a different lens,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox.
“We can’t wait to watch the exceptional cast as they continue to roam the halls of Chastain Memorial Hospital.”
There's no telling what stories are coming our way from our favorite characters, but we'll be tuning in every Monday for more.
