There are some massive changes in store for The Affair's fifth and final season.
The show will feature a storyline set in the future, and it will follow Joanie Lockhart aka Cole and Alison's daughter who was a child during The Affair Season 4.
Paquin will take on the role of the character as she makes her way back to Montauk with the aim of learning all about what happened to her mother.
If you watch The Affair online, you know that Alison was seemingly killed off by her boyfriend Ben after the pair got into a heated argument because he kept quiet about having a wife.
After hitting her on the head, he threw her into the water where she seemingly drowned. Her death was ruled suicide, but it didn't stop some of the characters questioning what really happened.
It was previously confirmed that Wilson was done with the series, and while there's still no solid answer about why she departed the series, there have been a lot of questions about it.
As for Joshua Jackson, he's not expected to return as a series regular. Catalina Sandino Moreno and Omar Metwally are also out as series regulars.
The Affair Season 5 “will chronicle the aftermath of the [Season 4] finale’s horrific events and find the characters coming to terms with the consequences of their choices — as they make the realization that if they really want to change their futures they must first face the past," reads the official logline.
"This final season is about how everything does really fall apart in the end, but somewhere in that wreckage, the seeds of change finally sprout.”
