Sabrina Spellman has cast a spell on Netflix.
The streamer has confirmed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.
Sixteen new episodes have been ordered, and they will be split into two parts and billed as Parts 3 and 4.
The news comes on the heels of Netflix releasing Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 11 aka the Midwinter's Tale holiday-themed special.
It stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, and Gavin Leatherwood. Jedidiah Goodacre and Alexis Denisof have been added to the cast for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2.
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch,” series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said.
“And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
The renewal is unsurprising, especially when you consider it focuses on one of the most famous witches on TV and in the world of comics.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 was certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an approval rating of 90 percent.
The series started its life as a spin-off of Riverdale that was in development at The CW, but Netflix later swooped in and offered Warner Bros. TV Group a production commitment for 20 episodes.
It's hard to imagine just how different the series could have been if it remained on The CW.
In any case, more episodes are on the way, and that's always a good thing.
