The Agent of Liberty has been exposed.
Revealing Ben Lockwood's identity only intensified the anti-alien sentiment amongst the masses on Supergirl Season 4 Episode 8.
I was angry on Kara's behalf and seriously annoyed with the mentality of all these Lockwood supporters.
Ben is a joke, he's pathetic, but most importantly, he's a liar.
After Manchester Black almost kicked his ass and then a team of ALIENS saved him, he still had the nerve to continue bashing their kind.
Sometimes, it feels like he doesn't understand the consequences of his actions.
His wife almost died because of his crusade against the very people who are willing to fight for him.

There is no logic in what he's trying to accomplish. He's saying all aliens are bad despite seeing, with his own eyes, that there are good aliens.
The broad generalization doesn't work, yet he continues to spread falsehoods and fear.
He almost had a redemption arc, but then ruined it by blaming everyone but himself for the situation he put his family in.
And don't get me started on his wife.
You would think that she'd acknowledge the monster that her husband has turned into or that he's gaslighting the public by making them think they are in more danger than they really are.
President Baker: The United States does not want a war with Supergirl.
Supergirl: Then I trust you won't start one.
He even considered dropping Agent of Liberty for a bit so he could appeal to the broader masses as himself.
But instead, Linda joins the fight and leads the people in a "Liberty" chant as he's walked into the jail.
My head is still shaking in disappointment.
I believed in you, Linda. Now, we have another problem on our hands!
Manchester Black has been the anti-hero, but I so badly wanted him to just put an end to Ben Lockwood.
Why did J'onn have to keep interfering?
However satisfying Ben's death might have been though, it would have been counterproductive, and it isn't what the series stands for.
Just imagine the chaos that would have erupted if the "human rights activist" was slaughtered rather than jailed.
Nia's powers were finally explained when Kara and James noticed she was slurping gallons of coffee to stay awake.

Before I dive into this whole storyline, may I just express my serious frustration with prop coffee cups?
Can't the directors fill them up with anything, even water, so they appear realistic?
There is no way Nia could physically hold three piping cups of coffee in her arms the way she was.
And if they fell in the way that they did, it would have been a colossal and hot mess. Trust me, I've dropped one cup of coffee before and can attest that it goes everywhere and burns like hell.
When she dropped them nothing even spilled!
How am I supposed to take a show seriously if they can't even get portray coffee in an accurate manner?
Kara: Reporting 101. When you've been kidnapped, you're on the right track.
Nia: That doesn't many any sense.
Kara: Tell that to Lois Lane.
But, I digress.
When Supergirl mentioned Nia's nightmare, Brainy was practically bursting at the seams to tell them all about 31st century Nia aka Dream Girl.
I wonder if Wynn has a thing with her yet. She seems like the kind of woman he'd pursue.
Brainy impressively held the truth in so it wouldn't affect the time-space continuum, however, he did reveal that she may lead them to Agent Liberty.
Nia had no qualms about telling Kara that she's from the planet Naltor where some generations of women develop visions, or dreams, of the future.
I almost felt like Kara should reveal her identity as well since Nia was being so open and honest with her. Can't they just be superhero friends?
If Nia is supposed to be this brilliant reporter, can't she figure it out based on all of Kara's almost slip-ups?
Nia, Kara and Brainy followed the lead as reporters do, but all I wanted was to know more about Nia and what she's up to in the future. It seems promising.
Will she have a role in the three-night crossover, Elseworlds?
The topic of Supergirl's identity came to the forefront when Agent of Liberty posed the question: who is Supergirl?
Apparently, the world is dying to know, although, no characters ever expressed any interest in finding out.
Supergirl: But we're close. I can feel it in my gut.
Brainy: Could be a probiotic issue.
But now, President Baker, who clearly cares more about poll numbers than America's citizens, wants full transparency so people "trust" the government.
Let me be clear, if Supergirl is saving me in a time of need, I trust her regardless if I know who she "really" is.
And what kind of question is that at its core?
Supergirl has never withheld who she really is which is a woman whose pod landed on Earth after the planet Krypton seized to exist.
Her Earth-adapted identity is Kara, a reporter at CatCo, but that has absolutely nothing to do with her ability to get the job done nor does it tell the public anything about her qualifications.
And Kara definitely wouldn't be able to do any work as a reporter being tied to Supergirl.
I'm glad Supergirl stood her ground and wasn't bullied into revealing herself simply to appease the President, even if it meant walking away from the DEO.
Good luck protecting Earth without her around.
Technically, Supergirl shouldn't even be government property as she works for herself and for the people.
This seems like yet another attempt at the series merging storylines with politics and again, I'm not into it.
What could have been a powerful episode ended on a bit of a sour note.
Supergirl: If you kill him, what does that make you?
Manchester Black: The intolerant left.
Also, if they were that desperate to find out her identity, I'm sure it could be easily done by cross-referencing the overlap in her circle of friends.
James, Lena, and Alex, to name a few, all have Supergirl and Kara as a "friend in common," if you know what I'm saying.
It really isn't that big of a secret.
The DEO has lost its way and what it stands for since J'onn left and the government became more involved.
Colonel Haley isn't morally corrupt but her motivations aren't in the right place if she's serving the President's needs directly by spearheading the DEO's missions. Hopefully, Alex's genuine care for humanity rubs off on her soon.
Though like I said in previous reviews, Alex should leave the DEO and start a rogue version of it with Supergirl, Brainy, James, and J'onn.
We aren't fully done with Ben Lockwood and the Children of Liberty, but for now, they writers have wrapped up the storyline to make room for the three-night crossover, Elseworlds.
The final two minutes in the episode set the scene for Elseworlds by showing us the fallen heroes of Earth-90.
Do you think Elseworld's will address Russian Supergirl?

- Can we see more of Nia's hilarious roommate who watches her sleep?
- EDIT: TV Fanatic readers pointed out that Brainy does not know Nia in the future, he knows her descendant Nura. (OG: If Brainy knows Nia in the future, why is he so smitten with her now?)
- I couldn't stop laughing at the "hey girl" scene where Brainy tried to play it cool but slide off the counter.
- Kara's attempts at getting kidnapped were so bad, they were SO good. I cringed when she said she was looking for her dad Agent Liberty.
- They weren't lying -- Nth metal really is the strongest element in existence. But not strong enough for Supergirl!
- Why is Manchester constantly outsmarting Supergirl? It's not a good look on her!
