Suits Season 8 Episode 12 Review: Whale Hunt

at .  Updated at .

Well, that was pretty decent.

Suits Season 8 Episode 12 was a massive step-up in quality from the episodes that came before it, and it leads me to believe there may be life in this old dog yet.

Let's talk about Katrina and Brian first. I want to be against this pairing because Brian has just had a child with his wife, and he should be spending as much time with them as he can, but I can't deny the chemistry between him and Katrina.

Katrina's Pain - Suits Season 8 Episode 3

Whenever they share the screen, they naturally gravitate towards each other, and it was only a matter of time before it all came to a head.

Katrina didn't want anything to come of Brian smelling the two different products, but as I said, they naturally get closer together whenever they're in the same scene. You can tell the pair hate that they can't just put everything aside and give in to their passion.

It was a silly move for Katrina to go over to the apartment, but what else could she do? There was no babysitter for Brian's kid, and they had a case to crack.

Samantha Is Not Impressed - Suits Season 8 Episode 6

The almost kiss in the apartment had me rolling my eyes because it was obvious it was coming, but I have to commend Katrina for shutting it down before they crossed a line.

The deposition was an utter disaster because they were using the two products and comparing them to the love they can't have for each other, and the other lawyer and person they were deposing were immediately thrown off.

Louis: Do as your told for a change and back off my client.
Harvey: Are you out of your mind?

It made Brian and Katrina look like incompetent lawyers, and that's not a good look. They've had some wins in the past and worked much better together before getting this close.

As much as it pains me to say this, Katrina made the right move by telling Brian he could no longer be her associate.

Katrina Battles for Named Partner - Suits Season 8 Episode 6

Katrina has strived to be the best lawyer she can be, and if she's being blinded by lust in cases, she's going to end up with more losses than wins.

That being said, there's no way this love story is over. It's only just beginning, and I'm predicting a season finale scenario that involves Brian splitting up from his wife and rushing to tell Katrina with a Coldplay song playing in the background.

There was another love story at play on "Whale Hunt," and boy, it was blossoming. Yes, I'm talking about Donna and Thomas.

Thomas is so freaking charismatic. He's perfect for Donna, and I know that will rub Darvey fans the wrong way, but that 'ship should have sailed years ago.

Donna Needs Help - Suits Season 7 Episode 14

Donna has always held a torch for Harvey, but I'm loving her interactions with Thomas right now. All we need is Harvey to step up and ruin things.

Well, we don't need that to happen, but it will before long. With the news that Suits Season 9 will serve as the final season of the show, it's obvious some things will have to change as we approach that finish line.

Louis: Well, I'll have a seat.
Harvey: Don't mind if I do.
Louis: Harvey, what are you doing here?

I'll be totally honest here, Harvey pissed me off like never before during this installment. Louis is the managing partner so he should not be getting surprises from his employees.

Harvey agreed to allow Louis to be at the top of the pyramid on Suits Season 8 Episode 10, so that's why I was so mad when he did not follow orders.

Louis Lays Down the Law - Suits Season 8 Episode 11

If you watch Suits online, you know that Harvey has never been one to follow orders, and it got him into a lot of trouble when Jessica was at the head of the firm.

But Louis specifically told Harvey to stay away from the poker game, and allow him to close the deal. That wasn't too much to ask.

This is the fundamental issue with Suits these days. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face. All of the arguing and miscommunication in the firm has to stop.

It was so obvious Harvey, and Louis would find a way to resolve their differences in the final scenes of the episode. That's what we've been witnessing ever since this show hit the air.

Ending Up In Between - Suits

The same can be said for the Samantha and Alex scenario. Samantha and Rosalie working together gave us some awesome scenes, but the moment I knew the latter was Alex's wife, it was obvious there was going to be more fights between the two new named partners.

In a sense, Samantha had a point that Rosalie was accepting the $15,000 for the reason that she would see it as a win.

I don't follow orders. I don't bend the knee, I win.

Harvey

However, Samantha has so much more experience in the courtroom, and I couldn't quite understand why Rosalie was not more understanding of how things worked.

But Rosalie did stick to her guns, and that's a good trait in the business she's in. I was mad that Samantha felt the need to turn to Alex because that was always going to result in a huge blowout fight.

Rosalie Williams - Suits Season 8 Episode 12

With four episodes to go in Suits Season 8, we need to witness the show prepare for the big finish because the only storylines that are remotely engaging are the two ill-fated love stories.

We need something huge to go down that will bend the world the show inhabits right out of shape, something that will push these characters to the brink when Suits Season 9 premieres.

What are your thoughts on the episode?

Are you tired of all the fighting?
