Gina Torres will return to screens on a full-time basis as Jessica Pearson on USA Network's Suits spinoff.
There has been much debate about what the Chicago-set series would actually be called, with several reports claiming that "Suits: Second City" would be the name for the new show.
However, USA Network has now revealed the official title, and it's much better.
Pearson is the title, and we're freaking out about this one ... in a good way.
There's been a Pearson shaped hole on Suits ever since Jessica departed, so this is the perfect way to lure all those Jessica Pearson Fanatics over to the new show.
Pearson will chronicle Jessica's life“ as she adjusts to the dirty world of Chicago politics."
Fans did get a taste of what life was like for her during Suits Season 7 when one of the episodes was set in the Windy City
Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) will play Keri Allen. Rebecca Rittenhouse originally played the role in the pilot.
USA Network ordered the series in March 2018.
“Gina’s portrayal of Jessica Pearson as one of television’s strongest, most successful businesswomen has made a huge impact with fans,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment when it was announced.
“We can’t wait to explore this next chapter in the Suits legacy –- and a brand new world for Jessica.” "It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on Suits for six years," said Suits creator Aaron Korsh at the time.
"Beyond her undeniable talent, she is an incredible partner and collaborator, and I always hoped we would work together again."
"I am sincerely grateful to USA and UCP for giving Dan Arkin, my producing partners at Hypnotic and me the opportunity to continue Jessica Pearson's journey in this new series that will encapsulate all that our fans love about her and Suits –- but with its own distinct story that will be unique to the franchise."
USA Network has yet to give a premiere date, but given that the show has been filming since September, it will probably be in the coming months.
