The Masked Singer is a hit!

Fox launched a brand new format on the first Wednesday of 2019, and it was a great move.

The Masked Singer Cast

The series premiere of The Masked Singer scored a 2.9 rating (9.2 million total viewers) in the all-important 18-49 demographic.

FYI: Star Season 3 which is currently on hiatus to accommodate the aforementioned series is averaging a 1.2 rating in the same demo.

What's more, the new format emerged as the highest-rated and most-watched show of the night and giving Fox its best Wednesday performance in two years.

This is a positive start, and if the series continues to post solid ratings, the network will likely order some more episodes.

Before The Masked Singer, Gordon Ramsay's To Hell and Back scored a 1.2 rating, coming in well below Empire Season 5's average (1.5 rating) in the slot in the fall.

Over on CBS, SEAL Team and Criminal Minds were steady with a 0.9 and a 0.7 respectively.
