"It's been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life," Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment, said Wednesday in a statement.

"Cheers to [executive producers] Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York's finest into New York's funniest."

The renewal comes as the series is boasting solid gains for its first season on the Peacock Network.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 is currently averaging 3.9 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in live plus seven-day figures vs. 2.9 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating for its final season on Fox.

NBC also touts the strong digital presence as one of its strong points, with 45% of its total viewer tally coming from non-linear sources.

That's the highest percentage among NBC shows, proving that the audience for the show does not watch live.

The series was originally a Fox series, but the network opted to cancel it after five seasons, citing low ratings.

When fans flipped out at the cancellation, it didn't take NBC long to swoop in to save the day. It was financially feasible for the network because it owned the series.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine joins the Chicago dramas, The Good Place, Will & Grace, and New Amsterdam in the renewal circle at the network.

More renewals will be announced at a later date.
