Legacies Season 1 Episode 10 Review: There's a World Where Dreams Come True

at .  Updated at .

Lizzie Saltzman's Legacies was a real hoot!

Legacies Season 1 Episode 10 brought Lizzie and Josie back into the mix, but the former was all about ridding the world of Hope Mikaelson, and it made for one of my favorite episodes to date.

I Didn't Do It! - Legacies Season 1 Episode 10

As a character, Lizzie has been one of the most problematic on Legacies Season 1. Her actions have never had consequences, she's been nasty to others and even treated her sister like crap.

All of the scenarios were engaging in their own right. I mean, it's difficult to pick which one was the best.

We'll start with the first one. The school got screwed as a result of Lizzie's wish. It turns out, the healthy donation from Klaus Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 16 was the thing that's keeping the school flourishing today.

Lizzie: This place sucks. Fix it.
Jinni: Will that be your next wish?

The Saltzmans struggled to get anyone to attend the school because it had a reputation for being on the tatty side. I laughed out loud when Jed showed up and got introduced to his alpha. The kid was like ten years younger!

Erasing Hope - Legacies Season 1 Episode 10

It made sense that Hope was going to pop up in this scenario. The school was in dire straits, and needed children from wealthy parents to allow it to get elevated to something that wasn't just a figment of Alaric's imagination.

The mission to New Orleans should have confirmed to Lizzie what was about to happen. It was such a huge moment to see Hope go all Klaus and murder everyone in the bar, and her vampire side fully activated.

At her core, Lizzie is just jealous because Alaric spends so much time with Hope, and it's probably a natural reaction -- especially when you consider the fact that there's no blood bonding them together.

Lizzie: I wish Hope had never come to this school.
Jinni: And your wish is my command.

The Mystic Falls high-set scenario had quite the role reversal between Lizzie and Josie, and it was a great way to make Lizzie feel how sister feels daily in the real world.

Lizzie is so overbearing that it's obnoxious, and poor Josie is always pushed to the side because of Lizzie's personality sucking up all of the energy in the room.

Alaric's New Look - Legacies Season 1 Episode 10

Kaylee Bryant's acting was outstanding as the bitchier version of Josie. She oozed confidence and was the most popular girl in Mystic Falls High. It's just a shame that it's going to take a lot for Josie to ever be like that.

Josie's reckless decision to get the watch to show off her abilities was the same schtick Lizzie would pull to impress a potential love interest.

Hope: What do you think it's going to be this time? A cyclops, slender man? Santa?
Alaric: Well, given our luck, I think it's safe to rule out old St. Nick.
Hope: I don't know. I mean, Santa Claus is kind of terrifying when you think about it. Breaks into your home. Sees you when you're sleeping, not to mention judgy.
Alaric: Hope, I need you to focus.
Hope: Look, I'm trying, I just wish that Satan's night light would give us some rest.
Alaric: Yeah, and I wish that knife wasn't in our school, to begin with, but it's not like we can change that now. All we can do is make sure we're not blindsided by another monster waltzing through our doors.

It was always going to end in disaster, but I was shocked when Lizzie went all Carrie, and the power went out in the school.

Hope showing up in the Hopemobile with some of the students -- including young Pedro -- was freaking perfect.

It was fascinating that Klaus was alive in this one, and that he started the Mikaelson school because it was somewhere for Hope to feel safe and be amongst other gifted individuals.

It provided a terrific reason for Klaus to remain on the side of good, and the little nod that he was in Europe with the aim of opening another school was intriguing. Are we to assume he was with Caroline?

A Wrinkle in Time - Legacies

The third and final scenario felt like something that could happen in the future, and I'm not so sure I want it to happen.

The world without Hope was the worst one to live in, and that's because Klaus was never tamed, and waged war against TRIAD Industries.

The world as a mess, Josie being dead, and Alaric still forgiving Lizzie all seemed like things that could happen, especially when you consider the rising threat of TRIAD Industries.

The best part of this scenario was that Lizzie finally learned about the merge between her and Josie. Alaric's comments about Lizzie becoming obsessed with outdoing Josie could be foreshadowing what's to come.

Alaric's Decision - Legacies Season 1 Episode 9

Lizzie took the news of the merge well, but I can't be the only one who was pissed that Lizzie was forced to forget all about what she learned.

It felt like a copout, but at the same time, it's too early for the twins to learn about what's going to happen to them when they turn 22 years old.

If what the Jinni said is true then Lizzie is very likely to lose her mind when everything starts happening. She's essentially cursed unless, of course, the Jinni finds herself absorbed by Malivore. Maybe that could allow Lizzie to forget absolutely everything as though it never happened.

Hope: You sure it glowed again?
Alaric: I sleep with the damn thing under my pillow. It's kind of hard to miss.

While I don't see that happening, I can't wait to see how all of this plays out.

If anything, this should have been a learning experience for Lizzie to realize that her actions have consequences, and I genuinely thought she was going to help Hope out during that final scene.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Pedro was supposed to be in Lockwood Mansion with most of the other children instead of hanging around the kitchen listening to Lizzie words of wisdom. This episode looks like it should have been Legacies Season 1 Episode 12 based on all of the promotional material. No idea why episodes are being aired out of order.
  • Does anyone else want to meet Stefanie Salvatore? Yes, she's totally named after Stefan. I watched that scene twice to understand fully what Josie was getting at with the watch. It's also likely that Damon and Elena had more than one child.
  • The posters with all of the supernatural characters we know who are dead and "at peace" was out there, but it showed the threat TRIAD Industries could pose to the world.
  • The Jinni not only having three wishes was a surprise. It was about time a supernatural series turned that three wish trope on its head.
