Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16 Review: Murder Is Never Quiet

Happy outcomes for everyone!

Magnum and Higgins worked together to save another innocent life on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16, but it wasn't as easy to prove as they hoped.

Even Katsumoto got involved. I guess he doesn't hate Magnum as much as he claims.

Crawling - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

How Magnum gets away with the things he does sometimes is always surprising.

Trying to get out of jury duty is one thing, but interrupting court while it's in session, doesn't seem like something that would be taken lightly.

Sure, he got arrested the first time for trying to delay court proceedings but aren't there procedures in place to present new evidence? And wouldn't Katsumoto have known this?

I get that this is a TV show, but as interesting as the case was, Magnum being free to do what he wanted when he wanted without repercussions just rubbed me the wrong way.

Magnum Fights - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

He always gets away with the crazy things he does and never has any consequences. Never.

I love when Magnum wins and proves people innocent or brings people together or finds the bad guy. I just wish that he would at least show some remorse for his bad actions and behavior, but he never does.

Maybe if he'd tone down his cockiness, it wouldn't be so bad, but every time he proves his point, his cockiness jumps ten notches.

He even took the lead at Brad's ribbon cutting ceremony just like T.C. knew he would. Magnum wasn't involved in helping to find the stolen appliances because he was working on Josh's case, but he didn't shy away from stepping into the stoplight when the time came.

The Gang Celebrates - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

T.C. probably didn't have time to tell Magnum everything that happened, but Magnum never asked. All he said when he was called out for not helping with the final touches was that he was working a case as if that absolved him from every other responsibility he had.

And while he did save an innocent guy's life, his lack of humility is bothersome.

It may be the reason why Higgins was so quick to tell Brianna that Magnum would work Josh's case pro bono. More than likely it had to do with the fact that Magnum only got this case because of his display at jury selection.

Higgins was glad to work the case with Magnum, but she didn't push to help out. She wanted Magnum to ask her for help, and it made me wonder if she's playing games to see how much she matters to Magnum.

Higgins Kicks Ass - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

Higgins needs to slow down and put the wall back up because she's moving way too fast. She needs to go back to being all-business Higgins.

It's not going to turn out well for her because I'm not sure if Magnum is on the same wavelength as she is. She's going to get hurt.

Higgins can kick everyone's ass from here to the hills just as she did to that guy in the building, but all her badassness won't protect her from a broken heart.

Still, Higgins' took that guy down without a second thought. She didn't back down even when it seemed like she was at a disadvantage. She kept fighting and eventually she got the upper hand.

I was glad that Magnum didn't get there in time to help her. Higgins is a former MI6, not a damsel in distress.

Unfortunately, the bad guy didn't make it and it provided an issue with proving Josh's innocence because all the culprits were either dead or not cooperating.

Happy Family - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

I was actually surprised the bank manager was involved with Libby's murder, but looking back it made sense. Why would he be so quick to let a private investigator question an employee about his obsessions with the dead girl?

Yet, I still have an issue with how Katsumoto paraded him into court as a witness to support Josh's innocence.

It's a nitpick, yes. The most important thing is that Josh was freed after Katsumoto's interruption.

Magnum Takes the Lead - Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16

Did it cross anyone else's mind that if Brianna thought her son was innocent and Magnum was never in court, would she have contacted another private investigator to help her son's cause?

Or was it Magnum's presence that triggered her to act?

We'll never know, and there was a happy ending, so that's all that really matters.

Over to you!

Wha did you think of "Murder is Never Quiet"?

Is Magnum too cocky for his own good? Does he need to be knocked down a few notches?

Why is Kasumoto always helping him out?

My gut tells me Josh didn't do it, and I have to follow my gut. That's what Brianna hired me to do.
