Manifest Season Finale Unmasked: Who Got Shot?

at .

Let's go back, back to the beginning of Manifest Season 1.

And in this case, the beginning is sunny and carefree Jamaica.

I've always wondered when we would dive into their time on the island, but sadly, it didn't reveal much.

If you were tuning into the season finale of Manifest for all the answers about the Flight 828 mystery, you may have assumed the episode fell short.

However, the bigger picture is finally starting to come together, and although it may be hazy, there were some major reveals that will carry us into Manifest Season 2.

The reveals along with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger set the stage for the next chapter. If you need more evidence, watch Manifest online to find it!

Let's deconstruct, shall we?

1. Stop Him

Mic, Saanvi, Ben and Zeke all heard the same calling ordering them to "stop him," which they all assumed pertained to James Griffin. But after James expired, the only one hearing the calling was Mic. The calling could pertain to either Jared or Zeke, however, it's not looking good for either man. And it seems Mic was too late!

2. Who Got Shot?

A gun went off in the final moments of Manifest as Jared and Zeke tussled with each other in Mic's apartment. Who shot who? We'll have to wait until next season to find out, but either way, Mic isn't going to be happy about it. These are two men she trusted above anyone else and this is how they repay her? I can't even fault Zeke on this one because he was simply defending himself from Jared.

3. Someone STOP Jared

Which brings me to Jared ... Jesus, Jared, please get it together. Jared went from being a likable character, despite being married and pursuing his ex, to being an obsessive and controlling dude who just cannot get a hint. There were so many moments where I just wanted to enter my TV and shake some sense into Jared. He just couldn't help himself. How many times does Mic have to say that it isn't about their relationship, that this is bigger than them and that nothing is going on? He was basically asking to get shot in the end, and yes, I definitely think Jared is the one who was injured.

4. Zeke and Mic?

Mic has adamantly denied any romantic feelings for Zeke, but that hug would indicate otherwise. Though it seemed to have caught them both off-guard, I got a sense that they both sort of liked it. I don't know how I feel about that. I was always #TeamJared, but now that he's been acting a fool, I'm kind of just #TeamMichaela. She doesn't need a man! And she has so much on her plate, she definitely doesn't need a love triangle interfering with everything. I also really enjoy her platonic relationship with Zeke -- they are connected in a way that no one else understands, she makes him be a better person, and he's there for her. There's really no reason to make things romantic!

5. That's a Lot of Water

James Griffin wasn't as useless as we previously believed. Griffin planned on abusing the callings for his own personal gain, more specifically fame and fortune. However, just when he was about to go and expose the callings to the world, he ended up coughing up more water than his body mass and drowning to death on dry land. Yeah, that CGI was really fun to watch. Can't say he didn't have it coming. Mostly everyone chalked it up to dear old "karma," but Ben realized it was way more than that. Griffin's time of death was 82 hours and 8 minutes after his miracle resurrection. I'll let that sink in.

6. Expiration Date

The amount of time Griffin was "dead" is the same amount of time he was alive again. Basically, all of these miracle returnees are living on borrowed time. Zeke has less than a year left in him -- which is why I think Jared is the one that was shot in the cliffhanger -- while the Stone's have until June 2, 2024. This also explains Cal's eerie gravestone drawings with the names of Mic, Ben, and Cal on it.

7. It's Right in Front of Us

Here's where it gets fun! Remember how some fans theorized about the mythology playing into the mystery? Well, they were onto something. The moment Ben realized that their return came with an expiration date, Olive realized that the date has been right in front of them this whole time. The peacock represented June, the Gemini twins the number 2, and Cal's dragon represented 2024, the year of the dragon in the Chinese New Year. Thankfully, they figured it out while they still have some time left. But are they really going to die?

8. Why?

Like I stated above, we may have more answers surrounding this mystery, but I still cannot crack the why. Why are these passengers and other random folks coming back? Why are they getting a second chance at life? And why are they experiencing callings that somehow connect them all? And how is all of this possible?

9. Stay Alive

As we venture into Manifest Season 2, the passengers of the doomed flight now know that their time is limited. My guess is that they are going to want to figure out how to stay alive. Can they beat this? Is there a workaround? Or are they just supposed to accept their fate? How will knowing the future affect their actions and decisions going forward? And what will happen in 2024? Will they all just disappear? If they are supposed to die in the same way they were originally meant to, what does that mean for them?

10. Major PTSD

I knew Saanvi's PTSD storyline was going to play a major role in the series, but man, I did not see that coming. You can't trust anyone lurking around the hospital these days, but I will admit, Troy had the most impeccable timing when it came to catching Saanvi at her weakest moments! The Major has weaseled her way into Saanvi's life by being her therapist. It's brilliant if you think about it. Saanvi is going to trust her, open up and essentially give her all the answers about Flight 828, Cal and the callings! You guys, I like Saanvi a lot so hopefully, she survives this next ambush. Poor girl.

11. Baby on Board

Honestly, the last thing the Stone family needs is a pregnancy but that didn't stop Grace at all. If you wanted any more reasons to hate Grace, well, here's the millionth one. As Ben found out about his death date, Grace decided to just dump everything on him at once by throwing in her pregnancy news. And if that wasn't bad enough, she then told him it may not be his child. Grace is about six weeks along which means there's a 50% chance the child is Ben's and 50% it's Danny's. Remember Danny? The man that Grace was in love with and then just kicked to the curb? I seriously just have no words. Now that she knows Ben isn't going to live forever, will she rekindle her romance with Danny?

12. Jamaica's a Snooze

Why was that scene in Jamaica so pointless? You're telling me they rounded up the whole cast on the beach just to give us a short scene that did nothing in terms of the bigger picture? Even Mic's moment with her mother felt odd though it was supposed to be a smooth gateway for Mic to help Zeke and his mother patch up their relationship. I'm just upset that Jamaica didn't foreshadow anything or provide any clues about what was to come.

13. Cal Stands for Calm

For a child who just found out that he's going to die in a few short years, Cal is relatively calm. I mean, destroying his bedroom was understandable, but Cal specifically didn't tell his family about the drawing because he didn't want to worry them. What a kid! He just accepted his fate and was planning on living out the rest of his days without saying a word! And yeah, telling Zeke doesn't actually count.

14. So, What's Next?

Overall, the season finale of Manifest managed to grasp my attention yet again. Sure, it's still a complete mess and I'm just as confused and Ben and Michaela half the time, but knowing that the passengers of Flight 828 don't have an unlimited amount of time is a game-changer. There has to be a reason why they returned though we still don't know it. Cal is the key to all of this, but it's still unclear what role he is expected to play. As the Major closes in and Ben gears up to protect his child from becoming a guinea pig, it's safe to assume that season 2 isn't going to run out of storylines and conspiracy theories anytime soon. Michaela: I am still the same screw-up you said goodbye to in Jamaica.
Grace: The universe just gave all of us a giant do-over. Everything that happened before goes out the window.

Ben: Why are you fighting this when all it's gonna do is make you happy? That's all we want for you.
Michaela: That was really sweet of you. You must be drunk.
