Veronica Mars: Hulu Boss Reveals New Details About Revival

It was Hulu's turn to take the stage at TCA on Monday, and some new details have been revealed about the upcoming Veronica Mars revival.

During a panel at the event, Hulu’s SVP of Originals Craig Erwich confirmed that Veronica Mars would “grow up,” just like leading lady, Kristen Bell has since the show premiered in 2004.

“Rob Thomas, who is the steward of the franchise, has really threaded the needle,” Erwich said.

“From what I’ve seen of the show and read, it is very true to the character, very true to the world, true to the tone of the show and what we made people fall in love with the show, but it is definitely an update. She is not a little girl anymore. You will see her dealing with contemporary issues in a contemporary world.”

It's great to know that there will have been some big changes for revival.

Erwich also touched on how great it is to work on a series that resonates with such a big audience.

“It’s so gratifying to make shows that connect with legions of fans,” Erwich said.

“When it first aired, it really struck a chord with a generation. 15 years later, we’re bringing back the entire library and new episodes.”

The Veronica Mars revival was ordered to series last year, and will be a limited series with a whole new mystery for the character to solve.

"Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry," reads the official logline for the limited series.

"After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach."
