While the surgery took place, Richard and Jackson tried to keep busy in order to avoid thinking too much about the complications that could arise.
Richard turned to Meredith with the aim of urging her to visit her father, Thatcher.
He was in a hospice, and it was his final days.
This presented some food for thought for Meredith as she wondered whether it was time to confront the man she hated so much.
