Grey's Anatomy Round Table: Was the Milestone Episode Underwhelming?!

at .

It was a cause to celebrate on Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 15

The series celebrated a landmark occasion by officially becoming the longest-running primetime medical drama. The doctors were celebrating Catherine, but as usual, their celebration didn't go according to plan.

Join TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Rachelle Lewis, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss the hour!

Did the milestone episode meet your expectations?

Stacy: Not really. Is it just me, or would it have made more sense for Meredith to have broken the record for longest surgery this week? This episode felt just like any other, nothing really special about it to mark the milestone.

Rachelle: I was disappointed. I am with Stacy; it would have made more sense to have Meredith break the record for the longest surgery be the milestone episode. There was nothing special about the episode, and it was disappointing considering it was the episode that broke a record for TV drama.

Jasmine: I agree that Mer should have beat the surgical record during this episode. Otherwise, I enjoyed it. It was nice to have everyone celebrating outside of the hospital and that drama that Grey's is known to have. I like that it was understated.

Are you excited by the arrival of Deluca's infamous surgeon father? How do you think he will shake things up?

Stacy: Again, not really. It could be interesting, but it wasn't something that was on my radar as a storyline I was hoping to see. I'm more interested in his sister's return because I actually think she's a more interesting character than Deluca.

Rachelle: I am indifferent. He is there to cause some sort of drama for Deluca and Meredith I assume, but his arrival is part of a story to me, nothing special.

Jasmine: I am. I think it could be interesting, and I don't know where this will go. The DeLuca siblings always amuse me, and contrary to my feelings about him dating Meredith, I have wanted to learn more about DeLuca for a while.

Did Owen overreact to Teddy and Tom going out of town together? Does he still have feelings for Teddy or was he jealous for other reasons?

Stacy: He definitely overreacted. He caused a scene, and he deserved that punch to the face. I know he doesn't know Tom's situation, but that was a low blow, and he was acting so immature.

I think he is still harboring feelings for Teddy. He may not even completely realize it, but everything Amelia said about what he might feel when the baby is born made sense. I could see that happening.

Rachelle: Owen totally overreacted, but I think a lot of it had to do with Leo being taken away and Owen feeling threatened Tom would take his daughter away somehow.

I also think he can’t make up his mind when it comes to Teddy. He wants to keep her as a friend so he can be with Amelia, but yet she isn’t supposed to move on with her life. It is a double standard. Amelia was spot on with what she said about Teddy and when the baby arrives.

Jasmine: He overreacted and was behaving like a child. I know he was hurting, but it was overkill.

Amelia was spot on with everything she said to Owen, and I do think he has feelings for Teddy that he cannot shake. It was only seven months ago when he ran to confess his love for her. He's going to be a mess when that baby is born.

Tom KO's Owen

Not Betty is gone with her parents, but Owen gets to keep Leo. React.

Stacy: That was an interesting twist. I'm worried about them changing their minds again, which would completely break Owen. I get that they have their hands full with Not Betty though, so it makes sense that they would want Leo to stay with Owen.

Rachelle: I had a feeling that Not Betty’s parents would end up giving Leo back; however, I did not expect Not Betty to leave as well. There is definitely still more to this story.

What happens in a couple of years when Not Betty is grown up, in college or whatever and her parents decide they miss their grandson? I hope that somehow Not Betty and her parents stay in Leo life, but Owen and Amelia raise him.

Jasmine: I figured her parents would bring Leo back too. They were way too flustered when they were taking Leo. I'm surprised that Not Betty is gone, too. I took for granted that she would always be around.

I would love to see her visit sometime. She could see Leo and catch up with Amelia. I loved their relationship.

Not Betty Says Thank You

Did Amelia make the right call stepping outside of the circle and breaking it off with Owen?

Stacy: I think she did. Their situation is so complicated right now, and she made a point about how they may have only gotten back together because of the kids.

If their relationship can't survive without them, then they don't really have much of a foundation. Plus, once the baby is born, it's just going to get even more complicated. It's a lot of drama, and I don't blame her for removing herself from it.

Rachelle: Yes, she did. I think Amelia is finally thinking clearly and looking at the situation without rose-colored glasses. She is being real and honest knowing Not Betty and Leo were a significant factor in her and Owen’s reunion.

If they truly want to be together, they need to rebuild the relationship, and I am not sure Owen will agree to do the work that needs to be done. I also feel like Amelia is protecting herself because she knows there is more to Owen and Teddy than either one admits, and the baby is only going to heighten their connection.

Jasmine: I loved everything she said about stepping out of the circle and the kids. She was right, and I do think they need to take a break and figure out if they were together again for the right reasons.

I almost feel like they shouldn't consider trying to sort through their relationship until the baby is born. That baby will change everything. At this juncture, I feel like Amelia has matured, and Owen isn't ready for whatever they can be yet.

Love Circle -Tall - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 15

Which storyline did you enjoy the most?

Stacy: Alex and his mom. They almost win by default because I am pretty much done with The Owen/Amelia/Teddy storyline, and I don't care at all about Meredith and DeLuca's relationship. I love Alex, and the moments he shared with his mom were sweet. I loved that he wore the green scarf she made him.

Rachelle: I really enjoyed Catherine and Bailey together. Catherine helped Bailey realize she needs to seize the day and do things for herself -- live life. It was funny and entertaining. Plus, these two women learned a little something from each other while having fun and living in the moment.

Jasmine: I agree with you both. I loved the moments with Alex and his mother. I adored Catherine and Bailey spending time together. Not only were they adorable, but I appreciated their message about living for today.

Girls Night - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 15

Are Alex and Jo right to be concerned about Helen's mental state? Why do you think she's visiting?

Stacy: Yeah, she did show up out of the blue, so that's always concerning, especially on a show like Grey's. Her visit could be a lot of things. I honestly don't have a good guess.

Rachelle: Absolutely he is right to be concerned. Alex has had so many issues with his mom, and Helen randomly showing up is a trigger.

Alex loves her, but she has never come to see him or been present in his life. The last time he went to visit her, it was not a joyful reunion.

Her sudden appearance is definitely a cause for concern, but I am clueless as to why she is visiting. Maybe she's having another breakdown or maybe she is sick. There is more to it than her just wanting to see her long lost son.

Jasmine: One of the funniest moments of the episode was Jo googling mental breakdowns when Helen wasn't looking, and I about died laughing when Alex was gleeful that there was a fire.

I do think they should be concerned. Her visit is random, abrupt, and she didn't give them any notice. She went from so cold when they visited her to being warm and trying to win them over. I don't know what to think.

Momma's Surprise Visit - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 15

What was your favorite scene, quote, or moment from the episode?

Stacy: I laughed out loud at Alex's relief that his mom saw an actual fire. That was so funny. I also loved her giving him the scarves and being concerned that green might not still be his favorite color.

Rachelle: I loved when Alex realized there was a fire and his mom was not losing it. He was like literally smiling as he rushed people out the door.

I also really enjoyed Catherine, Jackson, Maggie, and Richard eating burgers and drinking champagne in the limo. It was such a fun, easy moment. I like how it became the way Catherine wants to deal with her cancer moving forward.

After every scan regardless of the news the four of them will eat burgers and drink expensive champagne, I loved it, and it was a good lesson to enjoy life, even the rough times.

Jasmine: Yeah, Alex's glee over the actual fire was laugh out loud funny. Is it wrong of me to say that I liked when Tom punched Owen and then went back to being charming and cracking jokes?

I also loved Bailey's quote about still being here, Richard's quote to Maggie about writing her own story, and Alex getting teary-eyed when he introduced Mer to his mom.
