TV Ratings Report: The Village Premieres Low

NBC's attempt to replicate the success of This Is Us did not exactly pay off. 

The Village Season 1 Episode 1 launched with 4.9 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating. 

This is way down from New Amsterdam's premiere (8.4 million viewers/1.8 rating) and its season average (6.3 million viewers/1.2 rating) in the slot this season. 

More worrying, the show dropped a lot from This Is Us, which in turn did 7.5 million viewers and 1.7 rating. 

The Village will move to the 9/8c slot in a few weeks when This Is Us wraps, but this is not a great start for the freshman drama. 

Ellen's Game of Games secured 5.7 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating in the demo, holding steady week-to-week. 

Over on Fox, Masterchef Junior was steady with 2.8 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating. Mental Samurai 2.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating. 

The Flash was steady with 1.6 million total viewers and a 0.5 rating, but Roswell, New Mexico (1 million/0.3 rating) inched up a tenth. 

ABC's American Housewive (4 million/0.8 rating), The Kids Are Alright (3 million/0.6 rating), and black-ish (2.7 million/0.6 rating) hit series lows, while The Rookie (4.2 million/0.7 rating) took a hit.
