Another familiar face from JAG is headed to NCIS: Los Angeles.
Per EW, Catherine Bell has signed up to reprise the role of Lieutenant Colonel Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie in the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 finale, which is slated to air in May.
This means Bell will be reuniting with fellow JAG alum, David James Elliott who was previously revealed to be stopping by the NCIS spinoff later this season.
“Catherine’s ‘Mac’ was a strong, smart woman who held her own, and then some, in a male dominated world,” says NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill, who also worked on JAG.
“Her character paved the way for other strong female leads. Not only is it great to be working together again as friends, but to be able to write for Catherine and have her same character interact with our NCIS: Los Angeles characters now, that’s wonderfully surreal. It feels like everything has come full circle.”
But what brings Mac into the fold?
“As the NCIS team tries to uncover a complicated network of ISIS sympathizers who look to be planning an attack on US aircraft carriers and possible worse, Hetty (Linda Hunt) has to call in a favor to an old friend, Lieutenant Colonel Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie, to help get access to an elusive Russian diplomat,” reads the logline for the episode.
Bell took to Instagram earlier this week to tease that she was working on a secret project.
"Tired but so happy. What an amazing day on set. Can’t WAIT to share what I’m doing .... and the people I’m working with," she captioned the above photo.
When news broke last week of David's casting, fans were quick to point out that they would like more characters from the OG series to make an appearance, and Bell was high up on those list of demands.
There was certainly a lot of buzz about the news, but there's no telling whether their arrivals could lead to something more.
Could they become more permanent cast members on NCIS: Los Angeles, or could a full-fledged JAG revival be in the works?
It's certainly something to think about!
