The CW's Nancy Drew pilot will have a big link to one of the adaptations that came before it.

Per Deadline, Pamela Sue Martin, who played TV's first iteration of the sleuth, has signed on to appear on the new TV adaptation

Martin appeared on The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries from 1977 to 1979.

Kennedy McMann will take on the iconic role on The CW's pilot, which is set in the summer after Nancy's high school graduation.

It follows 18-year-old Nancy Drew who thought she was leaving her hometown for college.

However, a family tragedy holds her back another year,  and she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation.

Along the way, the smart young woman uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined. It's an intriguing set-up.

Sounds intriguing, right?

The good news is that it won't be another CW series that takes place in a school! The network will be banking on pulling in an older crowd for this one.

Martin will play a psychic who helps Nancy investigate a murder, and they find themselves with a clue they never thought they would have.

The actress is not only well-known for her role on the original series. She played the original Fallon Carrington on ABC's Dynasty for four seasons from 1981-1984.

The cast for the rebooted Nancy Drew also includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Maddison Jaizani, Alex Saxon, and Alvina August.

The currently untitled series is one of six pilots in the works at The CW. The young-skewing network also has Batwoman, Glamorous, Jane the Novela, Katy Keene, and The Lost Boys on its development slate.

Of those, Batwoman is considered a slam dunk for a series order. Ruby Rose was introduced as the vigilante on The CW's 2018 DC TV crossover, and the character is expected to have a big role on the network's upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover.

Also, Arrow is coming to an end, so it's likely the network will be in the marker for another superhero series to fill the void.
