Cobie Smulders is returning to primetime TV!

The Friends from College and How I Met Your Mother star's pilot has been ordered to series at ABC.

The actress will star on a currently untitled series based on the Stumptown graphic novels.

The series follows Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders), a strong, assertive, and unapologetically sharp-witted Army veteran working as a P.I. in Portland, OR; with a complicated personal history and only herself to rely on, she solves other people's messes with a blind eye toward her own.

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Adrian Martinez as Tookie, Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Cosgrove, Cole Sibus as Ansel Parios, Michael Ealy as Det. Miles Hoffman, and Tantoo Cardinal as Sue Lynn Blackbird.

Jason Richman created the series for television, and is also on board as an executive producer.

Smulders' most recent TV role was in Netflix's Friends from College. The comedy series was canceled after two seasons. The show was not a hit with critics.

She is best known for her role on CBS comedy series How I Met Your Mother. The actress starred on that show for nine seasons, right up to the polarizing series finale.

While her TV stints have mostly been on the comedy front, she did appear on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the role she played on the Marvel movies.

This drama marks the first pilot pickup at ABC, with The Baker and the Beauty, Heart of Life, The Hypnotist's Love Story, NYPD Blue, New York Undercover, Triangle, Until the Wedding, and the Untitled Hank Steinberg/ 50 Cent drama still awaiting word.

ABC has yet to make decisions about much of its returning series, with many shows still on the bubble. Renewals could come down to the wire as the network tries to make sure it picks the right series for the 2019-20 season.

ABC Quotes

Aren’t we judged by how we treat people? I don’t mean as doctors. I mean as people. Especially those who don’t have the same advantages that we have. We hire Shaun and we give hope to those people with limitations that those limitations are not what they think they are. That they do have a shot! We hire Shaun and we make this hospital better for it. We hire Shaun and we are better people for it.

Why were you rude to me when we first met then nicer to me the second time we met and now you want to be my friend? Which time was it that you were pretending?
