Emergence Trailer: Is This The Crossing 2.0?
Paul Dailly at .This is not your typical drama.
Emergence, starring Allison Tolman, is a brand new genre thriller which has had a long and winding road to the screen.
It started its life as a pilot at NBC but was produced by ABC Studios. While NBC apparently liked the show, it never made the cut for a series order.
That's when ABC stepped in, handed out a series order, and even put it on the fall schedule.
It's amazing how the TV industry works, right!

The series focuses on a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident.
The child is not in the best state, and struggles to remember anything that has happened.
In a wild twist, a man and woman show up claiming to be her parents, but that's not enough to make Tolman's police officer give the child up.
Instead, the whole scenario further fuels her suspicion that people are conspiring against the youngster.
The cast also includes Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown.
Emergence comes from Kevin (Probably) Saves the World creators/executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.
That show was a TV Fanatic favorite. If you never watched it, you missed out because it was a real hoot.

Emergence is a high-concept series, and those don't have the best track record over the last few years at ABC.
It does look fairly similar to The Crossing which was canceled last season.
