Mark-Paul Gosselaar Joins Mixed-ish as Young Bow's Father in Recast

Mark-Paul Gosselaar is a TV Fanatic favorite, so it's great to be able to report that he's officially returning the small screen.

The actor has joined the cast of ABC's upcoming black-ish revival, mixed-ish in the fall season's latest big recast.

Gosselaar is on board as Young Bow's father. He replaces Champions' Anders Holm, who was let go shortly after the project secured a series order.

On Mixed-ish, Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s and the constant dilemmas they had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves.

Bow's parents Paul and Alicia decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better provide for their family.

As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new life, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school in which they're perceived as neither black nor white.

This family's experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one's own identity when the rest of the world can't decide where you belong.

The series stars Arica Himmel as Bow Johnson, Tika Sumpter as Alicia Johnson, Christina Anthony as Denise, Mykal-Michelle Harris as Santamonica Johnson and Ethan Childress as Johan Johnson.

Tracee Ellis Ross plays Bow on black-ish, so it will be fun for fans of the parent series to get to know the younger iteration of the character.

mixed-ish is the second spinoff of black-ish, coming just over a year after the launch of grown-ish, which airs on Freeform.

Gosselaar is coming off a one season turn on Fox's The Passage. The sci-fi drama was canceled last month after just one season.
