Riverdale Boss Confirms Luke Perry Tribute Episode

Riverdale will pay tribute to the late Luke Perry later this year.

Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that Riverdale Season 4 Episode 1 will pay tribute to the actor.

"Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever," the showrunner revealed on Twitter.

"A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred."

He also gave fans a glimpse at the title page of the script, and it shows an Andrews family photo album, filled with some key moments from the character's lives.

Perry, who played Archie's father Fred Andrews on the hit CW drama series, passed away in March, days after suffering a stroke at the age of 52.

At the time, it was too late to address Perry's death in the show's narrative. Riverdale Season 3 was already filming its final episodes at that time.

It's great that the show is dedicating the first episode of the fourth season, titled "In Memoriam" to Perry, and of course, Fred.

It remains to be seen how Fred will be written out, but more details will likely spill out ahead of the premiere.

Aguirre-Sacasa opened up in April about Perry's final episode coming up, and fans had a lot of thoughts about how they wanted it to be addressed on-screen.

One fan said: “I hope they have a fitting tribute for his character planned. Please don’t recast.”

Another echoed those sentiments: “Please tell me you guys aren’t going to recast Fred? Nobody can play Fred like Luke did!”

Production on Riverdale was initially suspended to allow the cast and crew some time to process the stunning news, but The CW let the series air as normal.
