Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Blame It on the Rain

at .

This is turning into a disturbing pattern.

Once again, the Killjoys got stopped just short of a major victory against The Lady on Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2.

Dutch had more allies who had gotten back their memories of reality, but that still wasn't enough in a world where only The Lady knows the master plan.

Another Lady -- Tall - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

We finally got to see Turin again, and wouldn't you know it. He was a drug dealer on the fringes of Old Town society.

And somehow he was even cruder and meaner than before.

Dirty Dealer - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

Dutch/Yala sought him out to buy the drugs she needed to treat Zephyr, who was shot on Killjoys Season 5 Episode 1.

Turin had no interest in the "vintage" tech that Dutch was offering as payment, so she stole his gun and ran.

The only thing that could be said about Dutch's surgical skills is that she's not a doctor, she's an assassin, as Zeph learned to her pain.

During the butchery, we did discover that Zeph, or Stinky Raincoat as she's known in that world, wanted to make a protein inhibitor to restore people's real memories.

If she managed to survive long enough to do so.

Yalana learned many skills during her princess training but sewing wasn't one of them. It was a hoot when she picked up the electrician's tape to seal Zeph's wound.

Fugitive Killjoy - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

There's no chance that's going to get infected.

Once Zeph was forced back onto her feet by Dutch, she soon determined they were racing the clock, thanks to those factories pumping out pollutants all over Westerly.

They came up with a simple plan to slow that clock by blowing up a hub factory.

The only problem was that it was a job for more than two women, one of whom was badly wounded.

So while Zeph worked on the protein inhibitor, Dutch went topside to collect more data for Zeph with which to scheme.

The problem she didn't know about is that during her absence, D'avin and Johnny were bonding, well at least as much as they ever did.

Uncertain Killjoy - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

After Pree comes into The Royale bearing a black kill warrant for Yala "The Widow," citing her terrorist activities, Johnny decided that working with D'av was his best chance of getting her back alive.

The back-and-forth repartee between the pair should have alerted them that they were more connected than they knew.

Gared alerted Johnny that Yala had ripped off Turin, who was gunning for her. So D'av and Johnny started with him, a reluctant witness.

After D'av granted him the prize of punching Johnny in the gut, Turin gave them the solid tip that the tech Yala tried to pay with was something that Stinky would have stockpiled.

But Johnny stormed off from their stakeout after D'av opined that Johnny didn't know all that much about Yala.

It was hilarious to watch D'av condescend to Lucy while Dutch punched out a RAC agent in the background.

Faithful Husband - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

Johnny stumbled on Zeph's dingy hideout, while she hid, and he started to believe the terrorism charges against Yala.

But D'av was no longer so certain, because of her arguments about the unreality of their world and how he felt around her.

They had independently figured out Yala's next move and together resolved to head to the factory she had targeted.

The pair were seeing things quite differently after Dutch took out the guard and hit each of them with one of Zeph's protein inhibitors, snapping them back to reality.

Now Dutch had the help she needed but she also had the challenge of Pree showing up looking for her.

So while she planted the charges, the boys took care of Pree.

She also found those weird creatures in the boxes, which must have been what The Lady was terraforming Westerley to house.

After a quick consultation with Zeph, Dutch took a flamethrower to the creatures. Based on the way The Lady grabbed her abdomen and screamed, that must have been the right choice.

I'm betting those were the latest batch of Hullen replacements, created differently now the Green is dead.

Unfortunately, The Lady's pain disrupted the world she had created, including Zeph's control over the electronic functions of the factory.

Zeph went outside to regain control but the rains came, wiping out her memories. How long before she's able to make sense of the drawing she carved into her arm?

That ultimately led to Dutch's plan failing as the Killjoys couldn't get out of the factory so they could blow it up.

Old and New Models - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

But the most important battle was going in space on the Hullen battle cruiser, as The Lady sought to bend Khlyen to her will.

First, she showed him how she can switch bodies at will, changing from a young girl to a teenager.

Then, after Dutch was captured, she gave him an ultimatum: save Dutch, his surrogate daughter, or Jaq, his grandson.

My money is on him trying to find a way to do both.

The Lady desperately needs Jaq, because he's the closest thing to a successful human/Hullen hybrid which she will need to populate planets as she overruns them.

Westerley is just a laboratory for her, to work out what she must do to succeed on other planets.

Difficult Choice - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2

To deduce The Lady's grand plan, watch Killjoys online.

How soon will Zeph get her memory back?

How will the Killjoys break free?

What will be Khlyen's scheme?

Killjoys Season 5 Episode 2 Quotes

Turin: What the dusty shit is that?
Dutch: Vintage.
Turin: So are my balls. But that don't buy me dinner.

Turin: This is a relationship business. As in if you want to do business with me, we need to have a relationship.
Dutch: Sorry. I'm not a relationship type of person.
