Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3 Review: A Sonnet for Caroline

at .

Let's talk about love!

Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3 pushed aside most of the business woes that were on tap for Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 2.

Unfortunately, all the couples didn't make it out of the hour intact, but this review will try to help mend broken hearts.

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far from the Tree - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

Before we get to the romantic notions afoot on "A Sonnet for Caroline," let's get business out of the way.

While it wasn't the focal point, business was still on the minds of many, including Mick and Abby.

Mick: See? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Now you're channeling me.
Abby: Oh, dad, I've been happily channeling you my whole life.

Abby is going to need a lot of support after blowing the whistle.

Mick Radiates Happiness - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

We didn't get the details about the case against her, but whether it came from her firm or the client they were hoping to represent, it's going to throw her for a loop.

Chesapeake Shores Review: The End Is Where We Begin

Doing the right thing isn't always the easiest decision. That's why so many people turn a blind eye to injustices in this world.

But Mick is going through something similar which helps lighten Abby's burden a little bit, and she's getting praised for not allowing what she witnessed go unchecked.

A hero is just someone who makes a decision that no one else has the courage to make.

Kevin

Even knowing how the family feels doesn't make her decision to buck the system any easier. She has to worry about her reputation and how that will affect her profession going forward.

That Smile Won't Last Long - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

It wasn't all bad news for Abby, though.

Muffins were as much a topic as other business, and over at Ruth Ross' bakery, Abby ran into Ruth's nephew, Jay, newly arrived from out of town.

He's a third-grade teacher, so we know he's good with kids, and he was all kinds of kind to Abby. And let's be honest, Greyston Holt joining the cast in any way is a bonus, even if we know that Abby isn't done with Trace.

Because, yes, it seems like Abby and Jay will eventually go on a date in much the same way I expect Trace and Emma will move beyond their business relationship.

But if we know one thing after seeing Trace's gaze moving away from Emma and toward Abby on the bluff, it's that the two are not over by a longshot.

Danielle and Connor - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

Still, it will be fun to see them uncomfortable around each other until they reunite.

Connor's taken Kevin's whirlwind engagement to heart, and he's thinking about his future with Danielle. If Bree and Simon have no chemistry, then there needs to be an entirely new phrase created for what is lacking between Danielle and Connor.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley on Darrow Mysteries, Family, and Charity

They have never seemed even remotely interested in each other, and the kiss between the two when she confessed her love for him was almost painful to watch.

They have no spark, and if Connor is already questioning whether they're right for each other, he needs to heed his own warning.

The O'Briens Need Something to Celebrate - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

Anyone in the O'Brien family who gets serious with someone has to think long and hard about what that means. Kevin did that, and he's still suffering as a result of his overbearing family.

Kevin: We're just starting to talk about our lives together. We have a lot to figure out.
Connor: I know, but our family needs something to celebrate.
Kevin: Our family celebrates everything! Chesapeake Shores celebrates everything. I'm just not going to allow my wedding to compensate for any of it.

Once again, all of the O'Briens were kicking around the Shores in search of wedding bliss without either Kevin or Sarah included.

That's very strange, especially since the two getting married have so little invested in the actual wedding. They're wholly committed to each other and what spending their lives together means, but they're concerned everyone is so worried about the details.

When Kevin and Sarah had a moment to talk about it, she said she was up for whatever he wanted to do. And if I'm not mistaken, Kevin had a plan brewing.

No Compensating - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

It's unlikely they'll elope because of how disappointed it would make their family, but I have a feeling something will give in well under the year timeframe they've set for their nuptials.

Since there hasn't been a renewal for Chesapeake Shores Season 5, it would be great if they did something before the end of this season. Can they do that in just three episodes?

Fingers crossed!

Megan Sips Coffee - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

Jess went to great lengths to score the second inn of her dreams, even leaning on David's parents to get it.

Honestly, it was surprising that while she won't accept financial assistance from them in any way, she had no problem invoking their name to get what she wanted.

Wendie Malick on Darrow Mysteries, Strong Female Roles, and Her Love of Her Craft

It felt a bit dishonest and underhanded, and that's not how I like to see Jess operate even if the Shannon Cage bit was funny.

But will it be a case of being careful what you wish for? Because the electrical in that lamp going haywire seemed ominous to me. Did they trade termites for electrical issues? Will Jess pay for her devious side?

Time will tell.

Up on The Bluff - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

The title of the episode was written for Bree and Simon.

When you don't feel something, you can't force it. They were both trying to force it because outside of lacking sizzle, everything else worked. Simon, especially, was perfectly happy with the way things were going.

He admitted he'd take intellectual and compatibility over sparks flying any day. The problem seemed to be that Bree never felt sparks, while Simon did but felt they'd settled into a more comfortable relationship after those initial stomach flurries.

Seeing Bree cry at the loss of a man who was so perfect on paper was heartbreaking, even more because Simon was walking away because the thought of being responsible for Bree's unhappiness was too much. If she had balked, he would have stayed. He really loved her.

I'm not convinced they made the right choice, but if they realize that down the line, they could get a second chance.

Megan and Mick Search for Wedding Venues - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

Megan and Mick are getting a second chance, and that makes me incredibly happy.

When she first arrived, Megan had a lot to atone for, but she's done it all, and trying to make up for lost time aside, she's ready to move on.

Except, in this case, moving on means moving toward the love she once lost.

Gosh, wasn't it great to have Nell back? Diane Ladd is such a treasure, and I've missed her on the early episodes of Chesapeake Shores Season 4.

Megan and Mick Reconnect - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

I've been waiting for Megan and Mick to realize they've found that loving feeling again, and the looks on their faces just before the kiss were mind-blowing!

That's the look and the passion that Bree so badly wanted with Simon. The "I can't believe I could be this lucky" feel that being in love can bring. It doesn't always feel that way, but when it does, there's nothing like it.

Chesapeake Shores Review: Leap of Faith

Megan and Mick were kind of taken aback by what happened, but when they shooed it away as if they could somehow change how they feel, it was a weak attempt at best.

Without Nell, Megan might not have had the courage to say what she did on the bluff.

It's a lot easier to live with mistakes than with regrets.

Nell

Regrets are the worst, and inaction begets far too many for most of us. Taking a leap is difficult, but it's better to hear "no" than to wonder for the rest of your life if you missed out on something that could have been life-altering.

Don't Miss Out on Today for Fear of What Was - Chesapeake Shores Season 4 Episode 3

The shared evening with wine and ice cream have meant a lot to Mick and Megan. They could have chalked it up to their family and desire to be around for them, but they saw past that thin veneer to the real issue.

They're falling in love again.

Megan said it best.

And I don't want to walk away from what could be for fear of what was.

Megan

I'm excited for what the rest of the season can offer.
