Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 14 Review: Today and Tomorrow

at .

That was a drag.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 14 pushed the plot forward but didn't offer much in the way of significant revelations.

Every single time the action started to pick up, it slowed back down again proving to be yet another frustrating installment.

Finding a Survivor - Fear the Walking Dead

The insight into Paradise was needed. This is a base that can prove to be safe for all down the line, depending on how things shake out.

Virginia is a fierce leader, but her reliance on violence will be her ultimate undoing. If you watch Fear the Walking Dead online, you know that Morgan hates anyone that kills people without so much as a second thought.

Al Finds Herself in a Pickle - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 14

Morgan and Al teaming up, once again, resulted in a dull experience all round. There's always been a disconnect with them, and Morgan recognized that when Al acted sketchy about her motives.

Morgan: We can help you.
Tom: That's what they said.

It's ridiculous of Al to assume that she's going to find Isabelle again.

There have been a grand total of ZERO helicopter sightings since Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 5

Al is so consumed by her feelings for Isabelle that she almost got herself killed, and it's difficult to care for a character making such reckless decisions.

Althea, the Filmmaker - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 9

Al should have come clean to the people she trusts about this woman much sooner because they should know if she's going to put them in danger because she wants answers.

Given that Isabelle works with the people who took away Rick on The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 5, it's hard to believe we will get much information on the spinoff -- especially when there's a move on the way.

I appreciated the pool scene, but it would have had a better impact if Al got bitten or worse.

The team has had too many wins of late, and on a show set in a post-apocalyptic world, the stakes have to be raised.

Grace Talks to Morgan - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 14

That being said, it seems Grace is about to meet her maker. The effects of the radiation are catching up with her, and she's under the impression that she has cancer.

She's a smart woman who has worked tirelessly to save lives, so it will be difficult to watch her final scenes.

There's no confirmation whether Karen David is still locked in as a series regular for Fear the Walking Dead Season 6, but there are many variables with her character's decision.

Morgan and Grace - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 10

It's possible that she will need some sort of treatment and a doctor.

Morgan would never forgive himself if he never got to say goodbye to her before she dies, but something is telling that he will turn to Virginia.

Her army is huge, so it's highly likely she will have a doctor there who can diagnose what Grace is suffering from -- but that would come with some major caveats.

Morgan is very dismissive of Virginia. She saved his life, repaired his stupid stick, but still, he cannot trust her.

Morgan Asks for a Favor - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 11

She murdered Logan and his people even though she had a deal with them, so it's easy to understand why Morgan feels this way.

But he may need to accept a deal with Virginia if he wants to slow down the inevitable cancer that is plaguing Grace.

If you frequent my reviews, you know that I've called Grace the best character on the show. There's so much to like about her, but her death would help kick the story into high gear.

Grace's death would affect not only Morgan, but the others. Alicia knows she had a brush with radiation, so it would make her worry about what fate awaits herself.

On the Road Again - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 4

Granted, if Alicia is going to get sick, it probably won't be for several years.

The most surprising part of "Today and Tomorrow" is just how well Grace and Daniel work together. They're a delight to watch.

Daniel has been underutilized over the last few seasons, often relegated to the C story of episodes, and that needs to change.

Grace: We can make it on foot.
Daniel: You, me, and a cat with serious behavioral issues.

He feels like Charlie has given him a purpose in life again, and that's partly why he wanted to risk his life to bring the batch of records back for her.

Charlie Gets Caught - Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 4

It's a shame that Grace is not well enough to teach Charlie how to play the music, but I dare say there will be another character who will be able to help.

This series is a mess right now. Storylines are not meshing well; characters are disappearing for weeks on end.

The best foot forward would be to scale back the cast and focus on the ones that fans actually like.

After the creative resurgence of The Walking Dead Season 9, it would be great if Angela Kang could pull double duty on both shows because there are ways to fix this series.
