The Detour Canceled After Four Seasons at TBS

It's the end of the line for the Parker family and their road trip.

TBS has decided against renewing The Detour for a fifth season, meaning that the recent fourth season finale now serves as the series finale.

The Natalie Zea and Jason Jones-fronted comedy was never a hit in the ratings, but it was a reliable performer.

The fourth season 0.72 million total viewers and a 0.26 rating among adults 18-49, down a significant 30% vs. Season 3.

TBS has also canceled Angie Tribeca and Wrecked recently, leading many to believe that it could be saying goodbye to scripted comedy series.

American Dad continues to be the highest-rated series in the demo, but the linear ratings were not much better than some of the canceled shows.

What we do know is that Snowpiercer, which was originally in the works at TNT, is moving to TBS.

As a drama series, it will be out of place on the latter, but it could mean the network is looking to welcome more drama series.

What's more, Snowpiercer has already snagged a second season renewal, likely meaning that the cabler is happy with the series even before it has premiered.

THR notes that it is possible that TBS could ultimately fold ship its scripted series off to the forthcoming HBO Max, but only time will tell.

As for The Detour, it focused on a family who embarked on a road trip to New York with their family, and they ran into trouble every step of the way.

Each season was set in a different location with the series effectively taking on a different locale every single season. The fourth season found the family globetrotting to find a missing child.
