All Rise Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Fool for Liv

at .

You don't mess with Judge Lola Carmichael and expect to get away with it.

All Rise Season 1 Episode 6 was the strongest installment of this CBS drama to date. Both cases were genuinely interesting, and it was perfect how all of the supporting characters were affected by the events.

Adam has got to be the worst lawyer in the history of TV. He strutted into Lola's court with a chip on his soldier because he thought that Olivia's fans would set her free.

A Circus-Life Courtroom - All Rise

He didn't care for the rules, didn't give a hoot about the ramifications of his actions and even laughed at the notion that he was doing anything wrong.

A part of me wondered whether his poisoning of the jury was a ploy to get Lola to rule that there was a mistrial.

The Pryce is Not Right - All Rise Season 1 Episode 6

He was defending the woman who ended Hayley's life, after all. Lola would have been wise to send the complaint even though there was a fair outcome in the case.

There's no telling what sick games he's played in the courtroom before. Based on this one installment with him, he should not be practicing law and should probably be spending a few days behind bars for contempt of court.

The celebrity murder case was flawlessly executed in that it perfectly encapsulated the state of the world today. People can be celebrities just by appearing on a random episode of their friend's reality show.

People are famous by association. It's a foreign concept to some, but it shows just how social media is influencing the world.

Lola Ready for a Battle - All Rise Season 1 Episode 6

Take the case, for example. It was blowing up on social media because of one woman's thirst for more followers to expand her brand.

It's bizarre, but it's the way the world works in this day and age. The stylist had a superiority complex and couldn't resist looking down on Sara.

Sara showered her with compliments, but all she got in return were backhanded comments, almost like she was wasting the woman's time.

It's horrible to make people feel like they're below you, but Sara was excellent throughout.

A Dangerous Case - All Rise Season 1 Episode 6

The twist that the stylist was the one leaking the photos came out of nowhere, but Sara understood that she was doing it for Instagram followers.

Sara doesn't usually get much screentime, so it was nice to see more of her as well as watching her take someone down who crossed her.

Lola probably had a headache by the end of the case, but the increased media attention made her truly evaluate her life as a judge.

Sherri made some valid points when he countered that a case of this caliber could end Lola's career.

Sherri Steps Up - All Rise Season 1 Episode 2

Olivia's followers wanted her free and didn't have a care in the world for the judicial system. That's why they leaked Lola's home address. They failed to wait to hear anything in the way of facts.

Olivia's influence over her two million followers paved the way for them to break the law, and that's not okay. It's a scary thought about how people can influence one another on social media.

Pryce: I'm sorry, I can't believe what I've just heard. A temple of justice? Ladies and gentleman, justice has left the building.
Lola: Careful, Mr. Pryce.
Pryce: For a week, we've been hearing that Olivia is a thief, a killer, who on Earth are they talking about? Olivia was loyal to her employer, Hayley. Justice has left the building, but I am going to bring it back because Olivia McLeland didn't kill anyone.

Lola staying the night with Sherri was quite the surprise, primarily because Sherri has never been the judge's biggest fan. Sherri can respect that Lola wants to make the right decisions, but Sherri's concern is that Lola accidentally breaks a rule in the process.

Now that these two women have gotten closer, their relationship in the office should be better. To date, it's been strained.

Mark is Not Amused - All Rise Season 1 Episode 6

Emily coming clean about her ex-husband hitting her was a big thing. Emily obviously trusts Mark a lot if she's telling him all these details, but I was shocked Mark thought she was using what they chatted about to get Billy off without jail time.

Emily: Billy, what did I tell you? Do not talk to anyone.
Billy: Ms. Lopez.
Mark: Relax, we were just talking hockey. Billy is a big Kings fan.
Emily: He didn't mention the Kings?
Mark: How long have you known me?
Emily: Did he ask you anything at all?
Mark: Three years and in all that time, have I...
Emily: In all that time you've shown a willingness to win at any cost.

The positive is that they managed to bury the hatchet quickly and move on. Billy's family were leading him down a dark path, and if he continued on it, he would have probably spent his whole life behind bars.

His grandmother wasn't much help. Deep down, she knew Benny and Kenny (!) were the troublemakers, but she didn't like that Billy snitched on them.

The truth is, Billy was complicit, even though he was coerced into it, but without their influence in his life, he should be able to move on, even if he doesn't have his family's approval.

Emily Wants Answers - All Rise Season 1 Episode 5

It was about time Emily and Luke shared a kiss. The chemistry has been off the charts between them since All Rise Season 1 Episode 1. They have naturally been gravitating toward each other despite the big hurdles in their way.

Benner: Apparently, you got style and substance.
Lola: I am, for the record, mortified.

Emily accompanying Luke on that awkward date before making him flashcards and a designated study location in the building was cute. We need more scenes of them together.

"Fool for Liv" was an exciting ride from start to finish. This series is going from strength to strength with excellent writing and acting from every single member of the cast.
