Eleanor is doing everything in her power to make the love of her life miserable on The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3.

Destroying the comfortable mindset Chidi created for himself may be a necessary evil, but it appears as if Eleanor's actions aren't only for the benefit of the experiment.

Party Time - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

On The Good Place Season 3 Episode 13, Chidi made the ultimate sacrifice by choosing to give up all his memories of Eleanor and the afterlife.

But is he the one paying the price?

His heart may have been in the right place, and everything he's done may have been for the good of the experiment, but Eleanor is the one who is suffering the most.

I went too far. And what's worse...I liked it. Because I'm angry at him for leaving me. Which isn't even remotely fair because he sacrificed himself for us, but I'm still angry he abandoned me. Which makes me feel guilty, which makes me angry, which makes me want to talk to Chidi because he's the person I go to when I'm angry. So, it's a real fun cycle.

Eleanor

Chidi is currently living in blissful ignorance, and Eleanor is living in constant stress.

Luau - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

While Chidi is chilling at the beach, Eleanor is trying to figure out a way to stop the human race from being sentenced to eternal damnation.

Not only does she have to live her life watching Chidi from afar, but she has to physically push the man she loves into the arms of his ex-girlfriend.

Bearing all this in mind, it's hard to blame Eleanor for feeling a sort of hostility towards Chidi, which caused her to take Chidi's mental torture too far.

Eleanor: Well this was a huge success!
Michael: Chidi's an absolute mess.

Chidi may have decided to erase his memories, but Eleanor is the one suffering the consequences.

Eleanor's breakdown when Chidi came to talk to her and Michael was not a fun sight.

She promised Chidi she would take care of him and now feels as if she's failing the person she cares about most.

Party Time - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

We do have to hand it to The Good Place Season 4 for using this season to display a more vulnerable side of Eleanor. Losing Chidi has caused her to open up in ways that she never has before, and her character has grown as a result.

Speaking of character growth, Tahani was one of the two MVPs of The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

I just want you to recognize that your blog hurt people. You have a chance to be better here.

Tahani

Tahani hasn't been playing a huge part in the experiment, but she was singlehandedly able to befriend her nemesis and get him to accept his wrongdoings.

Frenemies - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

This Tahani is almost unrecognizable from the one on The Good Place Season 1 and she has undergone drastic changes while still staying true to who she is at her core.

She has gone from being a rookie in Chidi's ethics class, to the one giving the morality lessons.

If all you care about in the world is the velvet rope you will always be unhappy no matter what side you're on. You and I are proof of that.

Tahani

The student has officially become the teacher.

Tahani Al-Jamil deserves to be in the Good Place every bit as much as the rest of the gang, and we've got our fingers crossed that they'll get there.

Spa Day - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

But Tahani wasn't the only MVP of the night. Jason brought his A-game by reenacting his first reboot and making Chidi believe that he's not supposed to be in the Good Place.

For a character who's portrayed as utterly stupid and treated more like a pet than a person, Jason's ability to stay in character and convince Chidi of his story was surprising.

No, shut up for a sec! I'm not a Buddhist monk. My name is Jason Mendoza. I'm a DJ from Florida, and I'm not supposed to be here! You gotta help me out, homie. I'm scared.

Jason

He did such a good job that Chidi wound up in Eleanor's office hyperventilating from the overwhelming amount of stress the revelation caused him.

I'll admit that I thought he would slip up at one point or another, but Jason did a fantastic job, and I feel bad for ever doubting him.

Despite Jason's shortcomings, he's proven that he can step up to the plate when need be, and is a valuable asset to the group.

Now that everyone has played their part, the Good Place experiment is officially on track and moving in the right direction.

We may not be sure what it is or when it's coming, but something is on its way to the Good Place.

A hooded figure was seen traveling on the railroad towards the neighborhood, but viewers were left wondering who was under the cloak.

Could it be another bad place demon? Mindy St. Claire? Maybe it's someone we've never met before. But no matter who or what it is, it's bound to stir up trouble.

This is the fake Good Place after all. Nothing is allowed to run smoothly.

Fist Bump - The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3

Stray Thoughts:

  • Neither Jason or Janet are handling their breakup well, which goes to show how much they care about each other. Here's to hoping that they, along with Chidi and Eleanor, reunite soon.
  • Does anyone miss Derek? Because I don't. There's a difference between funny-annoying, and plain annoying. Derek fell under the second category.
  • Dare I say it, but Michael and Eleanor may make the best team on the show. Their constant support of each other and their comical interactions are incredible to witness. They're the new dynamic duo of the neighborhood.

It's your turn, TGP fans! What did you think of The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3?

Who's the figure headed towards the neighborhood? Do you think Chidi will figure everything out? Will the experiment fail or succeed?

Jason

I'm probably just going to mess it up like I messed things up with Janet.
