The future is looking bright for Days of Our Lives.
Deadline is reporting that the series has been renewed for a 56th season.
The outlet is reporting that Ken Corday of Corday Productions just told the cast that the show would definitely be returning.
NBC and Sony TV have yet to open up about the renewal, but Deadline notes that things was "looking good" for the green light as early as last week.
Now, it's all about closing the deal with the network, something that could take a matter of days or a matter of weeks.
These negotiations have no timeline because there are a lot of things to iron out, especially with a show going into its 56th season.
The soap world was sent into a flurry when it was revealed over a week ago that the entire cast were released from their contracts.
This left people questioning the future of the series, and given the way the cast were let go from contract, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding who will be back.
The common consensus on the matter is that not all the cast would be brought back, and if they were, it would be with different deals in place.
Days is one of four daytime soap operas still on the air, so it would have been a big loss if the series was not renewed.
Ratings have been steadily declining for years, but given the current TV climate, the show's fate was really up on the air until the eleventh hour.
There's a small chance that the deal could still fall apart, but for now, it looks like things are moving swimmingly.
The series first debuted in 1965 and has been on the air since.
A four-month hiatus in production is on the cards after the end of next week. If all goes to plan, it will return to filming in March.
For now, the current season is slated to run until Summer 2020.
