The Scooby Gang gets ready to party with the upper class on Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

After Ryan goes to Nancy with a plea for help, Nancy uses his desperation as an opportunity to get to the bottom of Lucy's death.

But when Nancy's interests conflict with Nick's, viewers witness firsthand that even the strongest of couples can succumb to their weaknesses.

Another Hudson - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

Nancy made some questionable decisions making me question her character altogether.

She may think she's on the side of righteousness, but who made Nancy the moral police? And why does everyone always let her get away with everything?

In terms of Nancy's character development and her relationship with Nick, it feels like we're back at square one.

The first couple episodes of Nancy Drew Season 1 strongly emphasized their growing relationship and ability to knock down each other's walls. What happened?

George: As long as I've known her she's always had this big walls up. You can stand next to her and never get close.
Nick: I thought I did.

It's understandable that Nancy wants to get to the bottom of Lucy's death. She is haunting her, after all. But is the cost worth it?

Finding Tiffany's killer is important to Nick, so you would think it would be equally as important to Nancy. Nick has always been supportive and willing to risk himself for Nancy's missions, and as his girlfriend, she should do the same in return.

Suit and Bowtie - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

That's not to say that Nancy has never supported Nick, but it would be nice if he could trust her to be on his side rather than counting on her co-workers.

George hit the nail on the head by saying Nancy was single-minded, and it might be one of her greatest character flaws.

Nick: Why is she being so-
George: Relentless? Single-minded? Nick, that's who Nancy is.

It's what Nancy wants, when Nancy wants it, even if it hurts the people around her.

Nancy came around, eventually, by stealing the coins at the auction, and while it might have been a nice gesture, she still has a lot of growing to do.

Dressing Up - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

We don't know enough about Owen to properly judge, but from what viewers have seen, he's a stand-up guy.

Owen bid a fortune on the coins and didn't even blink an eye when Nancy stole them. He asked her to dinner, instead.

Maybe Nick didn't hear Nancy proclaiming her feelings for Nick to Owen, but it's hard to blame him for feeling insecure about the situation.

Owen: Have dinner with me.
Nancy: Owen, I'm not available. My heart belongs to a certain mechanic with very good cheekbones.
Owen: He's a lucky guy.

There were times when I thought Nancy was flirting with Owen, although it proved to be a tactic to manipulate him.

Owen deserves better, and it's about time someone called out Nancy on the way she's been treating her so-called friends.

Hush - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

Ryan's feelings for Lucy must have been stronger than he let on if he was willing to kiss the ghost of a girl he knew 20 years ago. It was easy to tell by his breakdown that whatever was going on between them was more than a summer fling.

If Ryan's parents went to Carson to stop their relationship, the bloody dress Carson was burning makes more sense than ever. He might not have killed Lucy, but the connection is there.

Nancy: How did they handle it?
Ryan: The same way they handled everything back then. Carson Drew.

Ryan seems to be the common denominator in both Tiffany's and Lucy's murders, but his role is more than what meets the eye.

Instead of being the man who murdered both victims, maybe he was the man who loved both victims. Could someone be killing the women Ryan cares about as a way of enacting revenge for something?

Whether Ryan truly loved Tiffany remains to be seen, but she was his wife, and no one else had a way of knowing what happened behind closed doors.

Ryan Hudson - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

Ryan told Nancy that he suspected someone was trying to kill him. Could it all be part of a serial killer's master plan? Destroy Ryan Hudson's life in every possible way before finally ending it?

Considering how miserable Ryan has been since the start of the show, it appears to be working.

Overall, this was a fun episode.

It wasn't mindblowing, but it was an entertaining hour of television that allows viewers to think outside of the box and speculate long after it's over.

Under My Umbrella - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6

Stray Thoughts:

  • Bess and Lisbeth are adorable, and Bess's platanchor being there for her every step of the way made it all the more endearing.
  • Nick and George are the dynamic duo I didn't know I needed in my life.
  • Are Ryan's parents responsible for Lucy's death? It's not something to count out, but it doesn't feel like a satisfying conclusion to the mystery.
  • What is going on with those coins, and why are they moving? The gang has enough ghosts and ancient curses to deal with, as it is.

It's your turn, Nancy Drew fans! What did you think of "The Myster of Blackwood Lodge"?

Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 6 Quotes

Nick: Tiffany's records let me to those coins. She wanted me to find them.
Nancy: I believe you. But those coins will not help solve Tiffany's murder and they're my only shot at getting answers about Lucy. I'm sorry.
George: Chin up, Sparky. At least she said, "I'm sorry."

Nick: Why is she being so-
George: Relentless? Single-minded? Nick, that's who Nancy is.
