CBS All Access is parting ways with Strange Angel.

The streaming service has pulled the plug on the series after two seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Strange Angel Star

"The series brought new meaning to the idea that the truth is stranger than fiction and we are incredibly thankful to the creative team of Mark Heyman, David DiGilio, Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker for their vision, as well as the fantastic cast for bringing the bizarre story of Jack Parsons to life," said Julie McNamara, exec vp originals at CBS All Access.

The cancellation marks the second overall for CBS All Access, coming after One Dollar was nixed after one season.

A Strange Angel Wedding

It's difficult to guage how well shows are performing on streaming services because they typically don't release ratings data.

What we do know is that Strange Angel has a 71 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its freshman season, while Metacritic puts it at a 58 rating. This signals that reviews were somewhat mixed.

Based on the biography Strange Angel: The Otherworldly Life of Rocket Scientist John Whiteside Parsons, it followed Jack Parsons, a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker of 1930s Los Angeles who started as a janitor at a chemical factory but had fantastical dreams that led him to birth the unknown discipline of American rocketry.

Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world that included sex magic rituals at night, and he became a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley.

Parsons used Crowley's teachings of self-actualization to support his unimaginable and unprecedented endeavor to the stars.

The cast included Jack Reynor, Bella Heathcote, Peter Mark Kendall, Rade Šerbedžija, Greg Wise, and Rupert Friend.

CBS All Access is home to an ever-expanding Star Trek franchise, The Good Fight, Tell Me a Story, Twilight Zone, and Why Women Kill.
