Legacies has played host to the returns of actors from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and fans have been questioning whether Ian Somerhalder could be the latest star to stop by the spinoff.
Well, just like fellow Salvatore Paul Wesley, Ian's on the promotional trail, so that conversation is getting revisited
The actor has spoken out about it while promoting his new vampire drama, V Wars, and it sounds like the ship has sailed on Damon Salvatore.
In fact, it sounds like Damon is pretty darn dead in the Legacies timeline.
"He's not alive... Damon is dead," the actor tells TV Guide.
"That's how he finds Stefan. He became human, and then he knocks on the door and he goes home. Now he's with his brother," he said.
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know that the two brothers reunited in the afterlife.
But there was an undisclosed time jump as Damon and Elena seemingly lived their life before passing on to find peace.
Legacies has yet to reveal the fate of Damon Salvatore, but according to Somerhalder, the character is dead as a doornail.
That pretty much closes the door on him reprising his role, right?
Well, many characters from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals didn't even make it through the end-run of their respective series and still managed to return, so Legacies could find a way to bring some of the deceased characters back together.
Hell, Stefan and Damon were almost 200 years old when they died, so we could even get a flashback episode.
Remember when those types of episodes were so great on The Vampire Diaries?
While Ian does seem against returning, he did open up about how excited he is about the franchise continuing.
"I do know that when Paul went to direct Legacies, he sent me this video message like, 'Whoa bro, this is insane,'" he added.
"Because they have the same set. They have our old set and stuff. It's just like a time warp."
Still, Legacies is doing very well as its own entity. Do the brothers even need to return to lend an assist?
We don't think so.
And both of the actors are well onto other projects.
After all, Somerhalder's latest project, V Wars, is coming to Netflix on Thursday.
And while we didn't get any episode to watch in advance, we seriously doubt that not getting a critical nod ahead of time is going to stop anyone from watching.
V Wars focuses on Dr. Luther Swann (Somerhalder), who finds himself in a world of horror and uncertainty when a virus transforms his best friend into a vampire who feeds on the human race.
With the disease spreading at an alarming rate, Swann has to keep his wits about him in this new world as he tries to find a way to save the world before it's too late.
Does that sound like something you'll be watching?
What about Tell Me a Story Season 2 on CBS All Access?
Seeing the Salvatores on the same day is better than not seeing them together at all, right?
Legacies airs Thursdays on The CW.
