Mr. Robot Series Finale Trailer Teases a Bittersweet Conclusion

at .

It's time to say goodbye to Elliot Alderson.

USA Network has confirmed that the series finale will air across two hours Sunday, December 22, but will the subversive series be able to wrap up with a satisfying conclusion?

If you watch Mr. Robot online, you know Elliot seemingly made his way to the alternate reality Whiterose claimed would exist all along.

However, Elliot did not bank on meeting a different iteration of himself, one that has a social life, is soon to be married, and is the CEO of Allsafe.

The new world found Elliot 2.0 taking all of the darkness out of his life, and replacing it with light, but could it all be a figment of Elliot's imagination?

This new version of the character was suffering from severe migraines, leading to the possibility that this new world does not actually exist.

The official trailer sheds very little light on the events that will transpire, but it does claim it will "reveal the truth."

The revelations have been four seasons in the making, and given the trajectory of the series, Elliot deserves some much-needed respite.

If there are two versions of Elliot out there, it's possible they will both join forces to take Whiterose/Zhi Zhang out of the equation for good.

Whiterose killed herself to escape the world that was out to get her and has become something of a philanthropist in her new world.

Will that continue? It's hard to tell.

Also of note, Angela is very much alive in this new place, meaning that Elliot 1.0 will probably want to stay there, but then again, Darlene does not exist in this new world, so that's something.

Mr. Robot Quotes

Krista: What is it about society that disappoints you so much?
Elliot: Oh, I don't know. Is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man, even when we knew he made billions off the backs of children? Or maybe it's that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit. The world itself's just one big hoax.

Hello, friend. Hello, friend? That's lame. Maybe I should give you a name, but that's a slippery slope. You're only in my head. We have to remember that. Shit.
