American Horror Story is going back to the past for its upcoming eighth season.
The veteran horror series will stage a crossover between American Horror Story Season 1 aka Murder House and American Horror Story Season 3 aka Coven.
The news was confirmed series creator, Ryan Murphy who took to Twitter with the news.

"The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won't be happening next year…because it's happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER," reads the tweet, which you can see below.

We've known for a while now that a crossover was in the works, but there was no telling when the crossover would take place.
Murphy debunked rumors that it would occur during Season 8 earlier this year.

“We’re working on it, but that’s not going to be [Season 8],” he said to reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.

“That will probably be the one after that. We’ve already met about it and outlined it. But it won’t be next because some of the [cast members] are not available.”
It was previously reported that Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman are all coming back for the new season, and Joan Collins is set to join them.

Given that Murphy has maintained before that the crossover would be occurring this year, there's no telling whether the original plan for this year has been nixed, moving the crossover up.
That also means there's a chance the cast could change before the series kicks off.

Aside from the fact that it's a crossover season, there's no word yet on how the two worlds will be brought together.
