Aurora Teagarden Mysteries Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: Something New

Aurora has returned home from college to study for her graduate degree in library sciences.

Now living with her mom, Aida, Aurora's excitedly helping her best friend, Sally, prepare for her wedding.

As much as Aurora wants to support Sally, she's concerned that Sally is marrying a man she's been dating for less than a year. Those concerns expand when, during their bridal shower, Matt, is confronted by an angry man, leading to a physical altercation.

Matt assures everyone that he has no idea who that person is, but Aurora is not so sure and begins looking around a bit. One thing that concerns her is that Matt's ex-girlfriend Dawn is hanging around, but everyone is shrugging it off as if it's nothing to be concerned about.

When Matt goes missing, Aurora and her old friend and police officer Arthur discover a cracked mug and droplets at Matt's place, leading to a dead body — that of the man who had been at the shower.

Aurora and Arthur begin searching for Matt in ernest, believing he's either in danger himself or culpable for the murder.

Aurora and Arthur push through the investigation uncovering a web of lies between Matt and his business partner, Carson, that suggests they might have stolen their business from a third partner who had done the preoponderance of the work.

Despite everything that's happening, Sally insists on standing by her man, even when she sees what standing by him could make her become by way of Dawn, an erratic woman who almost kills Aurora when mistaken for Sally, who she just wanted to maim to keep her from walking down the aisle.

Eventually, all the clues point to Matt and Carson for myriad crimes, but to Matt's sister as the killer of the man from the balcony. Sally eventually disentangles herself from Matt and makes everyone promise never to utter his name again.
