Castle Rock: Lizzy Caplan Cast as Young Annie Wilkes for Misery-Themed Season 2

Castle Rock is switching things up for its forthcoming second season.

In the process, there will be a slew of new actors making their way to the Hulu hit.

The biggest surprise is that the sophomore run will be a prequel to Stephen King's wildly popular Misery.

Lizzy Caplan has been added to the cast to play the elusive Annie Wilkes. That character has been known to get obsessive over her literature.

Per the official Season 2 logline, “A feud between warring clans comes to a boil when Annie Wilkes, King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.”

Kathy Bates played the villainous role during the 1990s movie so it will be fun to see what Caplan brings to the table.

Caplan is probably best known for her starring role on Masters of Sex. If you watched that show, then you know she is one of the best actresses around.

Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade) is also boarding the cast of the 10 episode second season as Annie's daughter Joy.

Yes, really. Fans will be throwing it all the way back during what is sure to be a rock-solid sophomore run.

Additionally, Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption) and Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy) will also be part of the show's expansive cast.

No release date has been set for the second season, but given that the freshman run debuted last summer, there's a good chance we will be taking a trip back to the spooky town of Castle Rock before 2019 is over.

What are your thoughts on this BIG news?

Are you glad the show will tackle a Misery prequel?
