When you watch The Mysteries of Laura Season 1 Episode 16 online you'll see the lengths people will go to get the things they want. Laura and Billy head to a crime scene involving the murder of a woman named Emma who was a former beauty queen. While at the apartment Laura goes to interview the ex husband, but when she introduces herself she finds out it's her ex fiance Andrew. Laura interrogates him and tries to find out who would kill his ex and she even lets him know he is their main suspect. While she is interrogating him Jake is watching and is getting more upset by how things are going, so he goes in and they release Andrew. Laura tells Jake, Andrew's alibi has check out, but Jake wants her off the case because she is too close to the suspect. Jake gives the case to Meredith and Frankie and they go interview various people who have a connection to Emma, but Laura is not letting the case go especially after she finds out Andrew's alibi lied for him. It turns out Andrew was doing something totally different at the time of Emma's death and that alibi does check out, but Jake is convinced he is the one who killed Emma. When Emma's sister Connie comes to the stations she tells them how terrible Andrew is and how Emma told her if anything ever happened to her Andrew would be the one to do it. Laura is still not convinced, but when they go investigate Andrew's boat they find the murder weapon and Laura goes to arrest him. While arresting him she mentions his wedding to Emma and how since it rained he should have known it was bad luck, but Andrew tells her it never rained and it was sunny in South Beach where they got married. Instantly Laura knows who the killer is; Connie, Emma's sister. It turns out Connie would get all of Emma's money and possessions when she died and Connie framed Andrew with the murder.
