Grimm Spinoff With a Female Lead In Development at NBC!

NBC is not done with the Grimm franchise quite yet.

According to Deadline, a new series set in the same universe as the network's hit series is in the works

The project would be penned by Melissa Glenn (Marvel's Iron Fist) and would center on a female Grimm "building off the mythology of the original series."

The most exciting part of the report is that the door will be left open to bring in some fan-favorites from the original series, which would likely sweeten the deal for fans of the franchise.

While the project will follow a female Grimm, no actors are attached to any of the roles at this moment in time, with more details set to be revealed down the line.

Grimm originally aired on NBC from 2011-17 and lasted an impressive six seasons. It starred David Giuntolo as Nick Burkhardt, a Portland detective whose world is changed forever after learning he's a Grimm.

With that, he set out to keep the balance between humanity and the Wesen, or mythological creatures of the world.

The series introduced a lot of creatures throughout its six-season run and focused on the struggle to take them down as well as the emotional impact it had on Nick's life.

Grimm was a reliable performer for NBC, with Grimm Season 6 averaging 4.1 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49.

It played well with delayed viewing, meaning there was a substantial audience out there for it.

The spin-off announcement is especially surprising when you consider the sheer amount of reboots premiering of late.

Some of them have been hits, but for the most part, they are very frontloaded with nostalgic people checking them out.

Thankfully, if this is picked up to series, it will be set in the same universe as the original series, and it's a good idea to let fans know from the get-go that there will be previous cast members on board.
