MacGregor's former co-star on Little House on the Prairie took to Instagram to pay her respects to the popular actress.

“This woman taught me so much,” Gilbert said, adding:

“She was outspoken and hilariously funny. A truly gifted actress as she was able to play a despicable character but with so much heart."

"Her Harriet Oleson was the woman our fans loved to hate. A perfect antagonist," she continued.

"The thing people outside of our prairie family didn’t know, was how loving and nurturing she was with the younger cast."

"I really loved her and I find great comfort knowing that she is at peace and, per her beliefs, her soul has moved on to its next incarnation. Farewell Scottie."

"I hope with all my heart we meet again next time."

MacGregor starred on all nine seasons of the NBC drama series but did not appear on the series finale which aired in 1984.

The finale aired as a TV movie under the title The Last Farewell, but THR notes that was in pilgrimage in India while the finale was in production.

She has also appeared on Ironside, Emergency! and Mannix, and enjoyed several highly praised performances on Broadway, as well as other theatres.

MacGregor stayed away from the small and big screen after the NBC hit concluded, but she did appear in a short movie titled The Lotter in 2014.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to Katherine's friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
