If you've been following the news about Lethal Weapon, you know there have been tough times on set.
Things must have reached a boiling point when it came time for renewal talks because series co-lead Clayne Crawford has subsequently been FIRED it's been reported.
Now the series will have to recast or find a new direction to be in contention for renewal.
While we have never been on set, we can only follow the news to ascertain what kind of problems have been experienced there.
Recent reports indicated there were two incidents in which Crawford was involved and subsequently admonished for his less-than-stellar behavior.

One incident reportedly involved Crawford's outburst over the unsafe working conditions on set. As a result of that event, he not only successfully completed studio-appointed therapy, but contributed a portion of his paycheck to an involved party.
The second incident was also over his concern over unsafe working conditions. While directing another actor on set, Crawford was hit by a piece of shrapnel during a special effects scene.
It's hard to fault someone for feeling unprotected while doing their job, but we're also not privy to the way in which Crawford handled the situations.
What we do know is he issued a response via social media apologizing for any distress he caused his coworkers and sharing his love for his television family before he was fired from the set of Lethal Weapon.
"I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs," Crawford wrote.
"I am incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents."
In addition, Crawford wasn't exactly playing a sunshine and roses character in Riggs.
In playing Riggs, he was required to dig into some dark and compelling places over and over again to find the sweet spot of angst necessary to pull off the emotionally unstable character.

He'd been hit with one disaster after another from the time the series started. Crawford's Riggs was built on crazy.
Even a recast might not necessarily relieve the rest of the cast and crew of the burden of working with someone suffering from outbursts.
One of the things fans grew to love on Lethal Weapon was the chemistry and brotherly love between Riggs and Murtaugh (Damon Wayons).
Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 21 found Murtaugh promoted to captain, putting Riggs in need of a new partner. Perhaps a new route would be to find a new twosome for the beat altogether and allow Murtaugh to lead in a different way.
There are a lot of options open to the show as it moves forward — if it moves forward.
It's surprising and shocking news even with all of the previous chatter that had been going on around Lethal Weapon.

What do you think? Can Lethal Weapon survive without Clayne Crawford?
Is a recast for Riggs in order, or should a new character be introduced with a slightly different set of issues (maybe less angst)?
