Lethal Weapon doesn’t return until Tuesday, September 26 at 8/7c on FOX, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting excited now.
The show was a surprise hit of the 2016 fall season. This reimagining of the classic films is nothing like the classic films. Yes, it’s full of action, comedy and drama, but it’s so much more than that.
Here are 10 reasons why you should be watching Lethal Weapon.
There’s still time to catch up before the second season premiere. The Season 1 DVD will be released on September 19, but you can also watch Lethal Weapon online right here via TV Fanatic!
Give it a chance. You won’t be disappointed!
A special shout out to LethalWeaponHQ , ScorsesesHair , LethalWeasponTVHub , LethalWeaponItalia , ClayneCrawfordItaly , and LethalWeaponGermany for all their help!
Great Guest Stars Thomas Lennon and Hilarie Burton are just two of the guest stars who have added to the fun factor of this show. Lennon gave us a Leo Getz that was nothing like Joe Pesci’s iconic character from the films yet was still hilarious in its own right. Burton had a phenomenal dynamic with Riggs, Murtaugh and Captain Avery as DEA Agent Karen Palmer. And who can forget her and Riggs’ elevator kiss?
The Hair There is no other television show on the air that can compete with Lethal Weapon in the hair department. Not only are we blessed with Clayne Crawford’s sexy mop of curls, but we are also blessed with Johnathan Fernandez’s absolutely alluring afro. And let’s not forget about the women. Keesha Sharp, Jordana Brewster, and Chandler Kinney also rock the sexy hair.
The Romance No television show would be complete without a little bit of romance. Trish and Rog should be everyone’s relationship goals. It’s a union that shows how healthy and happy relationships work. You won’t see Trish throwing lamps at Rog’s head, and Rog doesn’t have secret girlfriends in the wings. These are two adults who love each other deeply and work through their problems to find mature solutions.
Female Power We love when strong women help carry a show. Trish is a lawyer who is as serious about her job as she is about her family. She balances both perfectly and is a strong role model for her teenage daughter. Dr. Cahill is the department psychologist who shows an enormous amount of compassion for a man that others might turn away. She has an incredible amount of patience and shows an inordinate amount of strength in the face of adversity.
It’ll Tug at Your Heartstrings Lethal Weapon isn’t all about action, romance and comedy. There are moments in the show that will tear your heart out. Whether it’s an unexpected tragedy or a heartwarming connection, one thing is for sure, keep your tissues at the ready.
Family Matters The Murtaughs have one of the healthiest family dynamics on television. While they disagree at times and things aren’t always perfect, they deal with difficult issues like any normal, real-world family would. It’s refreshing to see a family that isn’t full of dysfunctional drama. And let’s not forget they brought Riggs into their fold when it would have been easy to shut him out. The Murtaughs are gold!
(Unavailable) Kevin Rahm If you’re not yet convinced why you should be watching Lethal Weapon, then Kevin Rahm should tip the scales in the show’s favor. Rahm is one of the greatest actors in Hollywood and his portrayal as Captain Avery is both charming and funny.
Rip-Roaring Action Action aficionados will love what Lethal Weapons throws out week after week. Whether it’s car chases, jumping out of windows or things that go boom, Lethal Weapon has it covered.
It’ll Make You Laugh Damon Wayans is a king of comedy and will have you in stitches almost every hour, but he’s not the only one with comedic flair. Johnathan Fernandez and Clayne Crawford contribute their own brand of comedy to the show as do the rest of the cast. It’s obvious the players are having tons of fun, and they bring it to the screen each and every episode.
Riggs and Murtaugh There is no Lethal Weapon without Riggs and Murtaugh, the robbery and homicide detectives who have the world’s greatest love/hate relationship. Roger Murtaugh is back at work after surviving a near-death heart attack and is paired up with Martin Riggs, a former Navy Seal who recently lost his pregnant wife in a tragic accident. The chemistry between Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford is amazing, but if you’re expecting copycat performances from the classic films, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Crawford and Wayans bring fresh and unique perspectives to their roles which is one of the many reasons this show works so well. Like the rest of the cast and crew, Wayans and Crawford are LethalAF.
