Poussey – Orange Is the New Black
Of the many shocking TV deaths this year, Poussey from Orange is the New Black was definitely one of the most upsetting. Poussey was a favorite character on the show, and she’ll be sorely missed. RIP.

Jessica Pearson – Suits
Jessica Pearson on Suits. We all had an idea this was coming when Gina Torres started pursuing other options, but it still hurt when it happened. And it’s time to say thanks to Gina for giving us five and a half seasons of awesome leadership of Pearson Specter…whatever the hell it’s called anymore.

Cat Grant – Supergirl
Cat Grant on Supergirl. Everything about the move to the CW worked in the show’s favor except for losing Calista Flockhart as a series regular. She brought so much depth and humor to the character, and we definitely miss seeing her every week.

Tony DiNozzo – NCIS
I don’t think fans of NCIS will ever really get over the loss of Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo from the flagship series. Even though his new series, Bull, is squished between two NCIS hours on Tuesday, it’s just not the same.

Glenn Rhee – The Walking Dead
Glenn was lost in a most heinous way on The Walking Dead, as retribution for Daryl’s attempt to stand up against Negan after he killed Abraham. While both deaths were pointless, Glenn was with the group from the beginning and just starting a family. His desperate attempt to communicate with Maggie as he passed reminded us of his heroism and how much he would be missed, only moments later.

Aaron Hotchner – Criminal Minds
Look, Thomas Gibson deserved to be fired, but that doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to miss his character. We watched Hotch lead the BAU for 12 years, and then he was gone without so much as a goodbye. The situation couldn’t be helped, but it still sucked.

Abbie Mills – Sleepy Hollow
Grace Abigail Mills. If you ask me how long I will be bitter about Sleepy Hollow and the unfortunate demise of Abbie Mills, the answer is forever. FOREVER! How do you have Sleepy Hollow without Abbie Mills? You don’t. It was really hard to accept her death after listening to Ichabod wax poetic about how their souls were entwined and they were the witnesses, bound by fate. The chemistry between Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison was the best thing about the series. It made the series. It was difficult enough having them separated, whether it was Crane overseas or Abbie in another form of purgatory. Again. But then to have the season end with her sacrificing herself (again) for good? There are unsatisfying developments and finales and then there are unacceptable moves that garner the ire of fans for years to come. Abbie Mills deserved better. So much better. And the fans deserved better too.

Alicia Florrick – The Good Wife
Alicia Florrick. I may be biased since I started watching The Good Wife immediately after I became an attorney myself but it is easily one of my favorite shows of all time and Alicia was always at the center of it. First and foremost, I love how resilient she is; constantly picking herself back up after life kicks her down. Her husband has a very public affair, nobody wants to hire her, she loses the man she truly loves, she’s forced to resign as state’s attorney; despite all of this she still gets up, dresses up and shows up every day. She’s a caring mom, a committed wife, a good friend, and a badass attorney. I hate that the show had to end but I like that it went out when it was still great.

Greg Serrano – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Greg Serrano on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Was he Rebecca’s one true love? Probably not. But there was a little bit of us in Greg. Who hasn’t considered themselves an underdog at some point? Who doesn’t want to break free from the life that sometimes feels suffocating? I’m grateful that Greg got a happy ending and got a handle on his life, but it still hurts not to see him behind the bar every week.

Norma Bates – Bates Motel
Don’t be shocked, but Norma Bates DIED on Bates Motel. Who knew?! Despite knowing it was coming, it was made all the more tragic because we watched her protect the son who did it to an alarming degree. She made decisions that put her life in peril at a time when she had just found herself for the first time. Even worse, we’ll still see her, but only the image Norman has carried of her, and we’ll never see the shining light he didn’t allow himself to see in her.

Wes – How to Get Away with Murder
Wes dying on How to Get Away with Murder was the most random twist in the history of TV. It will serve the story well, but not more Wait List is just a bit too much to handle.
