The best thing about television ships is that they’re all unique and different. There’s something for everyone and just like real life, no single relationship is exactly the same.

But sometimes you just find yourself drawn to a certain kind of story or dynamic and end up looking for another one like it. And to be honest, a lot of our favorite ships remind us of our other faves.
No matter if it’s big or small, there’s usually a similar trope or element that draws us in.

Jake and Amy (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) & Lily and Marshall (How I Met Your Mother)
Jake and Amy and Lily and Marshall are the two purest and healthiest relationships on television. They are both 1000% committed to their significant other and wouldn’t even dream of looking at anyone else. Their disagreements are resolved with respect and they both support each other unconditionally. There has never been a time where we doubted their devotion or intentions.
Bellamy and Clarke (The 100) & Rick and Michonne (The Walking Dead)
Neither of these post-apocalyptic pairings liked each other at first. In fact, they started off as enemies. But an antagonist relationship slowly turned to trust which later developed into a strong partnership. It took seasons of build up for Rick and Michonne to realize they were in love with their best friend. Bellamy and Clarke are still working on the realization part, but we’ve got our fingers crossed!
Angel and Buffy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) & Stefan and Elena (The Vampire Diaries)
Angel and Stefan are two vampires who would do just about anything for the love of their life. They both have a very guilty conscience, but the person they love helps them see the good in themselves.
Eleanor and Chidi (The Good Place) & Jess and Nick (New Girl)
Both of these couples consist of a rather irresponsible character who uses humor to hide their emotions and eventually falls for the precious and postive cupcake. Cheleanor and Ness both have the best scenes in their series and became an official couple in the third season of their show. They’re also hilarious comedian soulmates.
Dan and Blair (Gossip Girl) & Joey and Rachel (Friends)
Dair and Roey were supposed to be the “side” ship whose sole purpose was to serve as an obstacle for the show’s “epic” couple. But they actually became even better than the main couple and turned out to be one of the healthiest relationships on their respective series.
Oliver and Felicity (Arrow) & Barry and Iris (The Flash)
This one is pretty obvious considering that they exist in the same universe, but there’s a lot of things about them that are rather different. However, if you’re looking for a superhero that has a kickass woman as his partner and his equal, you can’t go wrong with either of these ships.
Pete and Myka (Warehouse 13) & Mulder and Scully (The X-Files)
Both of these couples deal with strange artifacts and have a strong pull towards each other. They’re partners, friends, and ultimately become lovers. You really can’t go wrong with either.
Cheryl and Toni (Riverdale) & Emily and Alison (Pretty Little Liars)
Alison and Cheryl both came off as the “mean girl,” who was incapable of loving anyone. Of course, that was nowhere near correct, and both Emily and Toni were able to break down their walls and help them open up.
Klaus and Caroline (The Vampire Diaries/The Originals) & Hook and Emma (Once Upon a Time)
Both of these ships consist of a blonde badass girl who makes their enemy (who has an extremely beautiful accent) fall in love with them. And don’t even get us started on how slow the burns are.
Hannah and Clay (13 Reasons Why) & Scott and Allison (Teen Wolf)
These are two ships that deserved better. Scott and Clay are two precious people who loved Allison and Hannah with everything they had. Allison and Hannah were both extremely strong characters who were taken from the world and their loves far too young. Both stories are heartbreakingly tragic.
Wil, Eretria, and Amberle (Shannara) & Ben, Maddie, and Ryn (Siren)
Each person in these trios loves each other unconditionally. They’ve been through so much together and they all seem to have an attraction for each other. If you were a fan of Shannara’s main dynamic, there’s no doubt you’ll love the relationship in Siren as well.
Castle and Beckett (Castle) & Booth and Brennan (Bones)
Both of these couples in procedural shows took FOREVER to get together. Despite being married, they still call each other by their last names. These ships each had their fair share of struggles, but they both prove it’s possible to come out on the other side.
Simon and Isabelle (Shadowhunters) & Stiles and Lydia (Teen Wolf)
These are two ships that could’ve gone horribly wrong. They started off with the “nerdy guy likes hot girl” trope, but then evolved into something else completely. Both relationships took a step back and allowed the characters to build a friendship and grow on their own. It took building a strong foundation and being on an even playing field for a romance between them to feel right.
