Sometimes we just need to take a break from all the drama and have a good laugh. In this world, who doesn’t? Thankfully, there are some characters that use their humor and whit to add a little light-heartedness to seemingly bleak situations.
They manage to give both us and their fellow characters a reprieve from everything going on, and their unique personalities bring something special to their respective series.
As a token of our appreciation, here are 17 TV characters from dramatic or supernatural shows that make us LOL.
Felicity Smoak – Arrow
Felicity’s personality and commentary have always brought something special to Arrow. Her quirkiness and ability to make light of even the darkest situations make us want to do the same.
Cisco Ramon – The Flash
Everyone on The Flash has their moments, but Cisco is as funny as it gets. Like he said himself, the whole “naming the bad guys thing,” is definitely Cisco’s jam.
Winn Schott – Supergirl
Every superhero needs an awesome sidekick, but Winn is so much more than that. His incredible intelligence and desire to help others makes him a hero in his own right, and his hilarious commentary constantly cracks us up.
Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl
Blair was so much more than just a privileged princess living on the Upper East Side. Her determination and her cleverness made her one of the strongest women on the network. Her interactions with others (Dan especially), as well as some of her jovial ideas, made it impossible not to smile.
Hanna Marin – Pretty Little Liars
The award for best one-liners goes to Hanna Marin. She is all around hysterical and her sassy quotes are 100% gif worthy. You know what they say, “If the feather fits.”
Damon Salvatore – The Vampire Diaries
While The Vampire Diaries was usually composed mostly of love triangles and supernatural drama, Damon was known for his humorous presence in the show. He’s even managed to compile a significant amount of fan videos based on his funny quips.
Mark Sloan – Grey’s Anatomy
For me, one of the funniest parts of Grey’s Anatomy will always be Mark Sloan. His intentions of coming off serious in ridiculous circumstances made for some of the best comedic moments. Plus, his relationship with Jackson was one of the show’s many highlights. Who could ever forget the “plastics posse?”
Stiles Stilinski – Teen Wolf
Stiles’ sarcasm and his all-around goofiness somehow made him both an incredibly adorable and attractive character. His devotion to his friends mixed with his witty humor made for a hell of a character. Stiles is definitely one amazing dork.
Cheryl Blossom – Riverdale
The fact that Cheryl is the funniest character on Riverdale is pretty ironic considering she’s also the deepest and most layered. Cheryl clearly has a lot going on beneath the surface and has been through more pain than any one person deserves. Despite her situation, she still manages to be the show’s main source of amusement and her nicknames are hilarious. I still LOL at “butt out closet monster,” to this very day.
Leo Fitz – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fitz is an incredibly bright spot in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He takes the expressions that people say quite literally and provides us with some of the best replies. Whether the situation is boring or dire, Fitz reminds us that there’s always a reason to smile.
John Murphy – The 100
Murphy is one of those people who can make you laugh without even trying. Even Clarke referred to him as the comedic one in her stories to Madi. Who could forget Murhpy’s offended face when Madi tells him, “I thought you’d be funnier.”
Amy Raudenfeld – Faking It
Very few characters have managed to make me laugh as much as Amy Raudenfeld. While Faking It is technically labeled as a comedy anyways, it felt more like a drama with comedic aspects woven into it. Amy’s overall attitude and bluntness made her funny without even realizing it, which was honestly the most amusing part.
Kara Danvers – Supergirl
Kara is both an extremely cute and badass protagonist. Her bubbly personality constantly cheers up those around her and her kindness can melt even the coldest of hearts.
Jane Sloan – The Bold Type
Let’s be real, all the girls on The Bold Type manage to crack us up at one point or another. But Jane’s personality brings something especially entertaining to the show. I think it’s safe to say that Tiny Jane is one important, passionate, and hilarious character.
Simon Lewis – Shadowhunters
Simon Lewis is like a light in the dark. If you’re ever in a bad mood, you can count on him to make you smile. Despite his own difficulties he still manages to add a positive upbringing to the series which creates a perfect balance with the show’s other elements.
Waverly Earp – Wynonna Earp
Waverly is officially the most adorable television character to ever exist. Her cuteness alone makes all of the show’s demon-related issues feel a little less tense and her unique personality brings something special to the series as a whole.
Dean Winchester – Supernatural
Anyone who’s watched even an episode of Supernatural knows how funny Dean Winchester can be. His ability to crack a joke in a world full of demons is incredible. There’s also his obsession with pie which speaks to us on a spiritual level.
